Kubota B2150 differential lock stuck in locked [solved!]

Hi all, title says it all. My dad recently bought a second-hand Kubota B2150 from a friend who was moving away and it seems that the diffeential lock is stuck on. It has a huge turning circle because if you turn the front wheels more than 15 degrees it will just go straight. The lever to engage the differential lock is up, but pushing it down or holding it up doesn't seem to make a difference. Anyone have any ideas?

Is 4WD engaged?

Have you follow the rod back to see if loosen and connected etc.

If its like my b7500 setup, the diff lock is a dog clutch that slides on a shaft by a fork connected to the foot lever through linkage.
I would check the linkage to make sure nothing is stuck and that it freely moves.
I had to tear into mine and found that the shaft was worn enough that there was too much free play preventing the dog clutch from freely moving.
My problem was it wouldn't engage but after being inside I could see how the opposite situation could occur.
These machines are pretty simple making it easy to open up and see what the problem is.

Hi all, thanks for the replies so far. We've tried it with 4WD and 2WD, use left/right brakes, sharp turning, forward reverse. The lever moves just fine, cannot tell if it's koving 'normally' as I've nothing to compare it against but it doesn't feel stuck. When you move the lever, you can see the rod connected to it, going into the box, is also turning.

Some additional information, this machine has only about 600 hours on it, but is 20 years old and hasn't been used at all in at least 4 years. I'm thinking it's maybe an issue that it's just seized as opposed to worn.

You should be able to follow the linkage back till it enters the axle housing/3 pt gear box. Move the shaft back and forth and see if the dog clutch moves freely.there is also a spring in there that may have broke or seized.

It may not be the diff lock at all. Might have to take the 3pt cover off and peek down to make sure spider gears are ok.

Hi all, many thanks for the help and suggestions! Turns out the linkage to where it enters the housing at the back on the right hand side was bent and the diff. lock lever wasn't getting any turn. So we removed the linkage, sprayed some WD40 and tapped the lever over and back a few times with the hammer until the lock was engaged / disengaged successfully a few times, then re-attached the linkage. All working great now!
