Kubota B21 Power beyond FEL valve

Hello Hydraulic Masters, I am trying to convert the manually operated chute rotator and deflector on a RADTECH Blizzard B64 3pt PTO snow blower. I suppose I could use a 12v electric actuator for the chute deflector and a 12v gear reduced motor chute rotation, but I would prefer to use hydraulics. After I drop the backhoe in order to set up the 3 pt hitch, I must couple the supply and return lines that powered the BH to themselves and close an internal valve which then allows the 3 pt to operate. If possible, I must get fluid to a double spool valve to control two cylinders at the SB. I am not sure about Kubota's design, but I have heard the term "closed system or closed loop" mentioned. There are no remote hydraulic couplers like some of the newer larger models. Proper design and operation is a must as I do not want to damage the HST pump which drives the tractor. I would appreciate opinions from experienced hydraulic techs or those who know the Kubota B21 TLB fluid system. Thanx for understanding my project. Tinman236

Your hyd system is an open center hyd system where the fluid is flowing all the time.

Your pump flow is about 8.5 GPM at max rpm.

You have a BH connection on the back.

So if you install a two spool remote valve, your BH connection will connect to the IN port of the remote valve. The PB will connect to the 3pt hose. Out/return hose from the remote valve will tee into a return hose.

When you want to use the BH, just plug into the remote work ports and lock the lever on.

JJ-- Thanx for your thoughts--I understand your idea, however in order to operate the 3pt to raise and lower the SB. the selector valve must be closed. I believe the internal valve allows fluid to either the BH or the 3pt. Would it be possible to tap into the supply and return lines for FEL and route those two hoses to a two spool remote valve? This would then allow the 3pt to lift the SB without opening the valve that supplies the BH. Hope you are standing and thinking and not sitting and sleeping. Merry Christmas! Tinman236

I also have a B21 and same question. Is there a simple (for me has to be real simple) way to add a two spool valve onto the FEL valve.

It is probably not easy. There is some relationship between having the BH mounted and the selector valve open and the BH off and the selector valve closed. My 3 pt lifting arms do not work with the BH mounted and the selector valve open. The op manual warns about fluid overheating if selector valve is in wrong position. Remote power beyond may not be possible on a B21 without doing damage. I will try to contact KUBOTA and ask them. They will most likely say no way! Tinman236

If you can use the BH all day, then you should be able to operate a remote valve intermittently.

Yes, on the FEL lines.

There is a diverter valve that will shift the flow from the curl circuit to whatever you want. That will provide you with a supply of fluid as long as you hold the joystick in the curl position.

Your best bet is to use the BH flow path. If you need the 3pt, just release the bungee.

JJ-- Thanx again- The biggest challenge I have with this project is I do not know much about hydraulics. I am willing to learn, and I'm sure there is a lot to it. I am in the designing/learning phase and won't be breaking into system until I feel confident I know what I'm doing. Please tell Santa he looks great dressed in red! Regards Tinman236
