Just bought a rental unit that has not used the 3 point likey. I disconnected backhole and pulled up hydrolic diverter lever and connected back hose loop. no pickup pressure on 3 point arms. Any ideas ?

Boxwood, there is a knob centered directly below the front of seat that adjusts the 3pt rate of fall. If that knob is turned fully to the left, as you sit in the seat, it is in a lock position. See if that is the problem.

thanks Mark, The knob is open and the lift arms will slowly come up if the lower arms are removed. The loader and the HST work fine so I don't think it is the oil level. "Hard to read the plastic dip stick,":D

Sorry that didn’t work. Sounds like the diverter valve isn’t doing as it should for some reason. I went through my owner’s manual and could not find any suggestions.

Yellow plastic dip stick for clear fluid reading……Brilliant!

Mark I hooked it backup to the loader and the loader works no matter which way the diverter rod is up or down. Is it norm or your right that it may be stuck open? Think its hard to repair?

Also what implements and sizes do you use or recommend ie.. blade, box, bushhog? Thanks ahead:confused:

Boxwood -

I purchased a B21 last year, and had the same problem. The unit I bought never had the hoe off, so all of the linkages where frozen in position.

Make sure that the lever is pulled all the way up, it should move ~ 1.5 to 2 inches between the 3pt and back hoe position. Look at the actual valve travel, it should be a quarter turn if I remember correctly. I had to use some WD-40 on all of the linkages to free them up.

Also make sure the round knob is turned fully counter clockwise to the "A" position.

A quick "go no-go" test is to wipe the dipstick with a white cloth, if it's not wet when you wipe it off you need some fluid.

Thanks Andy, It does move up and down about an inch. I see on the valve a cotter pin which is about a 1/2" from being a stop. Don't know if this is the purpose or not. I will try the WD40

I'll look at mine tomorrow and see exactly how far the linkage is moving and see if I can provide any reference points for where it should be at the top and bottom positions.

The B21 is a tough tractor, I have been very pleased with what it can do.

Boxwood, I just ran out and measured the amount of movement on my diverter rod and it was 2”. Give the penetrating oil a try. There is a good chance it is just stuck from non use like Andy’s was. The loader should work normally in either position. The diverter only affects the backhoe and 3pt hitch arms.

The implement sizes I use are 4’ for rotary mower and tiller, 5’ for boxblade and 6’ for landscape rake and rear blade.

Good luck with the valve.

Thanks Mark,

I have 1 1/2 inch movement. The 3 point arms will lift if i run high rpms but will not hold pressure if pushed down. I will keep trying for further movement in the valve.
