For months Ive tossed around weather or not i should do my 50 hr service on my L3800 HST myself or have a dealer do it.
After lots of research i decided doing it myself was the way to go and I'm glad i did because it was a piece of cake to do.
Also i wanted to thank members of TBN for posting all the great information of their experience/mistakes they made on their 50 hr service.
By the time i did mine after reading all your experiences I felt as though i could have done it blindfolded.
I want to say THANKS to everyone that takes the time to post their valuable knowledge here on TBN!
Here are a few things to add to the ongoing 50 hr service saga.
Before i went to the dealer to get the parts i printed these coupons and used them for most of the fluids/filters i needed.
Go to the (kubota bucks) and fill out the information and then print the coupons it was an easy way to save a few bucks.
Kubota Tractor Corporation - Parts
This is a list of part #'s for my filters used on my L3800 HST
First i removed the front loader and it really made it really easy to get to everything.
Oil filter HH164-32430
2 gallons Kubota 15w-40 engine oil
The oil fill is behind the removable panel on the right side of engine
(L.side sitting in seat under floorboard ) trans filter part# HHK70-14070
the Kubota manual that came with my tractor didn't indicate this filter for the 50 hr service but i did it anyway i don't even think the manual mentions it at all the parts people may not even give you this one unless you specifically ask for it.
(right side under floorboard) hydro suction filter part# HH3AO-82623
I was all set up to do the vacuum in the fill port trick but decided not to do it because i was telling the parts guy about it and he
brought up a good point of letting the fluid come out while changing the filter to flush any possible contaminants from the filter swap.
I used a big metal catch pan under the filter while swapping filters with zero mess thanks to you guys!
This method wasted probably 2-4 quarts of sudt hydro fluid wich i thought was not a big deal.
The magnet had a good amount of metal on it as expected thanks to TBN.
Here it is

Front axle fluid change (4x4)
This also was not recommended to change until 400 hrs per kubota manual but couldn't see not doing it for 4.8 qts of extra fluid.
Now i have piece of mind the break in oil is swapped i can use it 350 more hrs with nice clean oil.
The manual stated the front axle could have udt or sudt or 80-90 gear oil.
The parts guy and i tossed around these options and he brought up the simplicity of using one fluid for hydro system and front axle that really made sense to me so i bought 2.5 gallons of SUDT and used this to top of the hydro system after the filter swap and i changed the front axle.
I have around 2-3 quarts left from the 2.5 gallons of SUDT for future use.
Fuel filter part# 6a320-59930
Didn't get around changing this one yet.
Also the two o-rings don't come with the filter so here are those two part #'s
large one 6a320-59940
small one 6a320-59950
Also i checked for and loose nuts/bolts
blew out air filter from inside out.
checked fan belt tension
sprayed all moving parts 3pt/cables/seat adj. and rusty nooks and crannies ect. with Fluid Film Fluid Filmョ | Corrosion Preventative, Lubricant and Rust Inhibitor
All the fluids and filters mentioned above plus a nice long kubota funnel and one can of fluid film cost me a little over $200.00 with the tax
So the conclusion is i did a lot more than the dealer would have for the 50 hr service for less $$$$
I would recommend anyone with average mechanical knowledge and a decent set of tools to do this themselves it really helped me get acquainted to my new tractor mechanically.
These 3 video's on you tube that this guy did for his l3400 service were also really good and seemed to be the same or very close to on my l3800.
