I am considering buying a 3010 4WD but am concerned that this model may not have enough horsepower. I have not owned a tractor before and to this point have been considering a Ford 3610. I am attempting to broaden my search scope to include the 3010 or other models that have at least 30 HP and are 4WD.

Main use will be to bushhog about 2 to 3 acres
Plow approximately 2 acres for food plots
May at some point decide to bail the hay off 15 acres (low probability). Currenlty have an arrangement for the hay to be bailed for keeping the hay.
I do not think this model could handle a round bailer.
If I decided to just bushhog the 15 acres, with current grass height of 4 ft, will this tractor pull a 5 ft bushhog in that high grass?

I'm thinking the 4610 may be more tractor than I need. I can see a need for 4WD based on some of the terrain, but the 4610 4WD seems like a monster.

Is there some guidline for how much tractor is enough tractor?

Rotcart.
As far as bailing hay with the 3010 I haven't a clue . But I expect you'd need more hpand weight .
As to hogging , I think the 3010 will be more than up to the task of mowing the 4ft grass you mentioned . I've ot a 3130 that I use for hogging up to 2" saplings ( mostly Sumac and Aspen ) . Mind you It's very slow going and for the most part in reverse . When I find myself luck enough to be able to go forward for any length of time , 4ft high brush is very easy to cut . I just go slow . The second time through is a piece of cake . John

I just traded a L3010 w/ GST. Mainly mowed but did quite a bit of dirt/rock moving with it and it never sneezed even once. They say the HST robs a bit of power so I can't really say other than my dealer assured me it would handle anything I could throw at it w/ a FEL. Good luck.

I pull a heavy 6' bush hog with my L3010 4wd HST with no problems. I have cut 4' tall grass with no problems. I have also cleared areas with 1.5" to 2.5" trees. I have been using mine this summer to bush hog about 20 acres with no problems.

The 3010 is too small for haying. It should handle anything else you would need to do though.

I have been pulling a 6' heavy duty disc to get a couple of fields ready to replant. It pulls it okay in 4wd and low range as long as it is not too wet.

I would normal use a bigger tractor, Ford 4100, to do much of this, but the old Ford is broke again so the Kubota has taken it's place until it gets fixed.

A 3010HST will handle everything you mentioned but the haying. I don't have a bushhog but I rent a five footer every other year or so to chop up brush that's higher than the hood. No problems. I also log with it, backhoe, finish mow, chip, plow snow, recrown the road, etc. Clementine has always lived up to the tasks assigned.

Just traded my L3010 Hyd for a L5030 Cab Model with A/C. The 3010 will do everything you want (except possibly the hay) and never break a sweat.
