I'm considering purchasing the 2763A Blade for my Kubota BX-25. I have the SB so won't be needing it for snow but it would be great for pushing gravel around when I have it delivered yearly to keep my driveway in good shape. It would save money as well and eventually pay for itself. (I told my wife this so work with me on this) It costs quite a bit extra having to hire someone to bring their equipment in to do what I could do. Will that blade handle such tasks or is it really designed for snow removal only?

The Kubota front blades have trip springs on them and are really designed for snow removal. For moving gravel / road grading a rear blade or box blade will work much better and is also probably cheaper.

I agree that a box blade will probably work better and is certainly cheaper. This blade does however have trip spring lockouts that are easily installed and have permitted me to push limestone around quite effectively on our lane with a BX-25. I often use mine with a DR grader (purchased before the Kubota) to crown the lane. Having purchased the tractor early this spring, I've pushed more gravel with it than snow. That should change soon..., but I hope I remember to remove the spring lockouts before I get reminded the hard way!

As others have said the 2763A front blade is for snow, what you need is a three point back blade or box blade. The box blade would be much easier for spreading crushed stone. But the back blade will also work and it will work really well for snow that is not too deep.

I guess everyone has their own favorite tool for spreading out crushed rock. I have tried rear blades, box blades, even back dragging with the bucket, but what has worked the best for me years is a landscape rake with guage wheels. Not so good without the guage wheels.

It seems the rake would finish it off nicely but, to move the material from the pile to the work area, I wouldn't think a rake with gauge wheels could be more efficient than a blade or better yet, a box blade. Or, even the bucket.

Can you explain.??

I guess I assumed the gravel would already be in the driveway and not in a pile. You would definatelly need to distribute the gravel with a loader or some other means first.

What? Snow only? Some misinformation here.

I bought the 2763A blade when I got my BX. It is fully hydraulic, but uses the sub frame, QC to mount. The cost is horrendous, if you compare it to a back blade, box blade or even a back rake. $2000 more or less, mine was considerably less as it was packaged in at the time of sale, but still $1750. Since you already have the subframe, your cost would be much, much less.

It is one heck of a blade!!! Thick. Heavy and has replaceable edge and edge can be reversed. It is one of the finest quality blades I have seen. It can indeed be set in dozer mode, with the provided clips.

All that said, I found it pretty good at scraping up soil in dozer mode. I scalped 4" of soil on my barn floors and pushed it out. And, yes, I spread some gravel with it, but a back blade or box blade would out work you something silly. I primarily got it for snow removal.

To buy a blade like this for drive maintenance seems high priced and the wrong tool. That's just my take.
