Kubota 2620
Used tractor all morning and worked fine. After lunch went to start, and would not. Clicks with key turn, two indicator lights on panel show, but does not seem to connect to turn over. Seemed electrical, tried to bypass the seat cut-off swithc, but not sure I am doing it right. Checked the fuses, and at least visually they seem okay. One says key cut-off a 5 A, and one says solenoid a 30 A, so I may try replacing those. Any thoughts or suggestions appreciated! should add, battery tested fine, terminals cleaned, although unlikely an issue since key in on position lights the panel.

Your PTO lever might be engaged.......maybe that would be the cause. Usually it is something simple.

Agree with this.....sounds like a safety switch not closed. Make sure it’s definitely in neutral, etc. Check for broken safety switch wires too - had that happen to me on a zero turn mower.

If the starter solenoid clicks when you try to start it, then it may be a problem with the safety switch contacts, rather than the activation of the switches themselves. They are probably being closed properly.

Not sure about your tractor, but this issue is common in tractors that rely on the switch contacts connected in series to activate the starter solenoid. The cure is usually installing a relay in between the solenoid and the safety switch circuit.

The safety switches activate the relay, and the relay contacts supply voltage to the starter solenoid directly. The relay coil requires much less current than the starter solenoid, so safety switch contacts that develop resistance can still operate the relay, when they drop too much voltage across them to operate the starter solenoid.

There are threads here describing this solution in more detail...somewhere...:)

This could be your issue.

Check your treadle for neutral position. This sounds a lot like a switch is open or the combined resistance of all idiot switches is too high to signal all switches are closed (assuming the starter doesn't get 12v). Oh, and check that your battery cables are good and tight.

I don't know how to reply to each individual, but want to say thanks. I was able to get back to my tractor today, and using the hints given by several folks, was able to start, run and use it smoothly. Turns out that the PTO was not fully in neutral, preventing ignition. Someone had suggested just that. This is the thrd time in some years that readers/responders have helped me out, and I am very grateful to them and this forum.
