Tractor
Yanmar 1610D
My Yanmar 1610D has a Koyker 150 FEL on it thats working sickly. I purchased the tractor in this condition but the tractor and 3 point work great! The issue I have is that when you pull the handle to lift, nothing happens unless you lift the 3point. To lower, you must again lower the 3 point then the lift will lower. The bucket works similiar. I've changed the fluid, cleaned the filter and taken everthing apart several times to no end. I have also disconnected the line going to the 3 point from the control valve and put it to the tank to eliminate the 3 point but no change.

Anyone have any ideas?

Sounds like the plumbing is wrong.

The hydraulic flow sould be something like this. Pump, FEL valve, 3pt.

If the FEL valve is using the PB port for series operation, then the tank port would go t tank.

You did say you removed the 3pt input line and put it in the tank.

Check all the hoses for correct location.

If you have QD's, re-connect them.

If you have a pressure gage, use it to check pressure where it is supposed to be.

J_J/All,

I'm not to familiar with the FEL valve but the way it's hooked up seems correct. Fluid flows from the pump to the FEL valve that has a pic of an arrow in, assuming thats the in port. Four holes on the underside to the cylinders and one to the 3 point. I've checked the connections many times already and my tractor is connected strait without QD's.

There is also a relief valve of some kind right inside where the inlet hose goes in. Someone has taken it apart in the past because i found a broken cup shaped washer inside. I replaced it with a washer similar but unsure as to if its missing anything else. Thought the pressure might be the problem so i cranked in the valve but when i tilted the bucket to the limit, it blew a hole in the pressure inlet hose:( had to replace that$. Also the bucket cylinder won't hold and drifts down as soon as you let go of the handle with a little leakage.

I'm thinking of replacing the FEL valve but it's seems sound without any visa me signs of leakage.

What is the position of the 3pt lever?

It should not be all the way up, but in neutral.

Your flow path seems correct.

As far as the bucket curl, your cyl seals probably need replacing, or worn valve spool.

Here is a suitable replacement joystick valve.

Surplus Center - 2 SPOOL COMPACT 10 GPM JOYSTICK CONTROL VALVE

This valve also has float. regen and a PB port.

If the relief valve was blocked by debris, that could have cause you to blow a hose. It also tells you the pressure might be good.

J_J,

The 3 point handle neutral position seems to be in the up position where there is a built in stop. If I pull the handle around the stop it will lift the three point all the way until I hear the relief valve kick in. The oil seal came out on the tractor valve so I also took it apart, cleaned and tapped the seal back in. While apart I took notice to where the neutral was.
What I don't understand is if that is neutral then why do I have to let the 3 point handle down before I can lower the FEL? Thinking a faulty FEL valve is my issue.

Mine has two handles unlike the one you sent, is that a better way to go?

THX

If the 3pt lever is all the way up on some tractors, the relief valve is activating, and there is no place for the fluid to go except through the 3pt relief valve, and when you try and use the FEL, it will cause problems.

The 3pt should be in a neutral position so the flow has a clear path unimpeded.

For some reason, hyd valves do not like the same pressure on the front and back side of the spools. The 3pt provides the back pressure if it is in the wrong position.

I like the joystick valve and a lot of tractors seem to use it for the FEL.

Valve does the same thing.

Have you checked and see if you can get a PB plug for your valve? Who is the valve Mfg? If you can get one put it in and replumb from there.

The neutral position should be down from top, until the relief quits sounding.

I would recommend a gage setup like these to test and monitor the hyd system.

Coat about $30

With a setup like this, you can tell where you have pressure, and how much.

Install a male QD wherever you want or install it permanently.

LeeJohn,

Currently I don't know who makes my valve or cylinders but the FEL is a Koyker 150 and everything looks original.

What does the PB do? I've been unable to clarify from anywhere if my tractor should be plumed with it or not. I can inquire to Koyker on the PB attachment.

Thx
