I am thinking about buying a small dozer to clear some land, just small brush nothing big, clean out a small pond and do some road work. Not interesrted in renting a dozer as I want to take my time. I have been looking at the Mitsubishi BD2G and Komatsu D-21 & D20 machines. Any suggestion on which may be the better machine parts included. Also I am leaning toward direct drive over the power shift.
Please give me your options
Thanks

Bill,

I値l vote for the Komatsu D20, I just recently acquired a grey market version with less than 2500 mile on it. I致e been using it for the last three weeks here and there, I can稚 believe how much you can do with it in a short amount of time. I went with the Komatsu since parts are readily available and dealer support it still there, you just need to register to get access to their eParts from Komatsu, plus It痴 easy to work on. Try to get the Joystick version, you get more upright position operation, less pain in the back. It also reasonable diesel consumption ~ ス gallon per hr if you are easy on the throttle. Small enough to go thru around trees. My only complaint, I wish it has a synch bearing, every so often you loose patient to speed up gear shifting and you grind gears every so often (with the clutch version). Other than that, there is hole long thread that talk about the D20.

Shoot i can send you a dozer. Just buy it cheap enough to justify the cost of shipping. :)

Actually for personal use a d/d is fine. Like what was mentioned you WILL get in a hurry sometimes BUT DON'T force or grind the gears. There are a bullet proof tranny but even bullets fail. :)

power shift models are easier to operate, a bit more money because of better resale and quicker sale, and actually quite dependable... knock on wood I haven't had to rebuild a D21 YET... just the D31's so far. :)
