knocking noise on lt 1050

got a quick question, what would cause a slight knocking noise when i first start my lt 1050 with the 26hp Kohler Command engine? after it runs for 5 mins, the noise goes away. i have used it for almost 2 yeas and 90 hrs. any ideals? thanks

If it's still under warranty, I would have it checked soon. Without hearing it I can only guess. It could be a valve lifter collapsing and noisy until it pumps up. It could be piston slap which lessens after it expands. A bearing knock probably wouldn't go away after warm-up.

Is the noise there whether you are at half, 3/4, or full throttle? Does the oil look clean and right on the full mark?

As Bob indicated, knocking sounds are not good.

oil is where it should be. i start it using the choke and at the lowest idle and let it warm up for about 5 mins. if i take it to 1/2 or 3/4 the engine is to loud to hear it. if im thinking right, it has a 2 yr residental warranty. i will probably just take it in. everytime i have tried to get something covered under warranty on a smaller item like mowers, trimmers, tillers, they always find a way to say its not covered.
