A branch knocked the light off, leaving the brass inserts on the bolt. Nothing was broken on the lamp, but I couldn't get the insert completely in the plastic light case, so I've now got a gap between the ROPS and the light.

Is the insert normally pressed into the case? I tapped it lightly, but it didn't seem to move and I don't want to crack the case.

Advice/suggestions?

Thanks,

Can you take the light off of the other side (the lense) and see how it goes together, then you can better tell how to put the damaged one back together.

I did the same thing to my TC29DA last year when I got "blind sided" by a crab apple tree branch. I hand pressed then very lightly tapped my light assembly in with a weighted rubber mallet. There was a minor gap between the ROPS and the hazard/tail light assembly, but the gap was insignificant. I tend to break a lot of the things I try to repair because of excessive force . Jay

I'm wondering if this is a sort of "breakaway" feature. I didn't take the other side off, but it appears that the brass "nuts" were pressed in flush with the body. Like Jay, I was afraid of doing too much pounding on the plastic.

Seems like they add these lights to all tractors. One got whacked off my tractor within a month of owning it. There was nothing to save after running over it a couple of times before I realized it had broken off. :(
Went to the dealer and bought a new one. Asked how to keep from breaking them off. Dealer suggest that I take them off and store on a shelf in case I ever want to put them back on. That's where they have been ever since.
Still have the directional signal and 4 way flashers on tractor.

I cracked one on my DX33 within 30 hours of owning it. Someone in another post had a good idea. He suggested reversing the mounting so that they were located on the inside of the ROPS instead of the outside.

I checked NH's sales and marketing literature. On the D/DA tractor series the Flashing/Hazard lights are described as "breakaway". Based on all the threads I've read on TBN I think you are required to knock something off your tractor to prove you use it ;). Jay

I like the idea of reversing the lights to the inside of the ROPS

Reversing the flasher lights makes it almost impossible for on-coming cars to see them if they are inside the ROPS. Some of the grape farmers reverse theirs and you can not see the lights while you are driving towards them. Safety wise you should keep them outside of the ROPS and if you really have issues with knocking them off you can build a cage around them to help protect them.

well after 16years my TC35D flasher light on the left side started not working at all. I opened up the lens cover by taking out the 2 little screws and found the metal bracket inside was rusted completely in half and the bottom of the bracket were the grounding wire was attached was mostly rusted out also. I was able to get one of the 2 bolts out of the bottom of the light and after much work got the other out and removed the light. i've got another one ordered now.
