Kioti Touchup Paint (Orange) ?

Hey List,

I've got a whole 9 hours on my Kioti now and it's been fun ... but still re-learning for sure... Anyhow, I had to take the seat out and put an adjustment hole in the slide that would work better for me (nice to know I'm shorter than the average S. Korean Man). Got it out alright, but when I was lifting the seat back in, I stumbled, and the frame of the seat scratched the dickens out of the left fender.. OUCH!!! 9 hours and first damage.. dang! Anyone know of a color/brand name for some spray paint (orange) that I could touch this up with? I should have got pic's but I did not.

Seems to run just fine with the scratch however!! <grin>

KIOTI dealers have the KIOTI Orange in touch-up brush bottles, spray cans, and quarts. Make sure you prime the area first for a good color match.

Thanks for the info.. I'll try the chevy paint first..then I'll have to go to dealer.. My dealer is about 1.5hr away.. or perhaps I can order paint with filters for 50 hr maintaince?

CowwFace , I'm glad you like your new Kioti. Mine just turned 600 hrs today and it still runs and feels like new. Anyhow we all get scratches and keep paint on hand. My first scratch (and small dent) was on my hood where I can see it when I drive. It bothered me for days. Now 5 yrs later I don't even notice it. Kioti has two oranges ( Kioti orange and New kioti orange) Kioti went with a brighter "new" orange a couple years back after a despute with kubota about their color. I use Kioti spray paint and Ace hardware implement Paint (Allis chalmers orange) in a can that I can brush on. It matches my backhoe and loader pretty good. Its a little brighter than my tractor it is the old Kioti orange. Have fun. Frenchie

Kioti paint like Kubota paint needs primer if you are painting on bare metal.
Using spray cans and a snap-on spray finger trigger I spray orange rust paint (Tremclad If I can find it) as a primer and keep putting on several coats just waiting about 15 to 30 minutes between coats. Then I switch to Kioti Orange as soon as the rust paint has setup, usually just another 15 to 30 minutes. Two or three coats of Kioti paint over 3 coats of rust paint will give you a solid Kioti color with a nice thick rust proof finish. Just need to let it cure 4 or 5 days before putting the painted metal to work because the rust paint will dry slowly under the Kioti paint but your shin will stay nice and the coat will be very tough once cured. I used this system on my home built cab for the orange and the grey with perfect results.
Once you start painting, you must not stop until done. If you stop you must wait at least 3 days before adding coats or your paint will wrinkle.
Another pointer if you are painting a large area is to alternate colors for your first 3 or 4 coats. Example: orange and white. This way you can see exactly how thick each coat is and that you are not missing any spots. Then finish with Kioti Orange for the last 2 coats.

I ordered mine with my filter kits and I grab a can when ever at Rick's, seems like you can't have enough, particularly with a backhoe.

I must be daintier than you roughnecks. I haven't managed to put a scratch into the orange on my DK40se yet. What I have done is scraped almost all the orange markers on the drain bolts underneath the tractor. If I'm really bored some rainy day I'll put a few dabs of paint on those again as it is handy to have a quick visual marker to confirm where you are while crawling around under there. This time I'll put a light coat on more than just the top face of the bolt heads as those get taken off by brush pretty quickly. Heck, I might even splurge and use different colors for bolts on the engine, front axle and hydraulics. Maybe even a fourth bright color for the hard to see zerks under there I often miss. A rainbow tractor.

I find myself repainting my backhoe fairly frequently and my loader arms like to have the paint fall off for whatever reason, I repaint them every once in a while.

Must admit, for 250 hours of fairly agressive use, she still looks good.
