Question: Is it possible to complete a reset or re-program of the power shuttle controller unit? I believe it requires an authorized dealer to do this since the computer and specialist knowledge is required. Initial setup is required on a replacement unit.
BACKGROUND
The tractor was first purchased new in 2017 by the previous owner, then by me in 2021. Besides other issues the last two years (Broken DPF, Failed A/C Compressor, Wiper etc.), there is an intermittent fault where the tractor intermittently stops traveling forward. I have to turn it off, walk away for an hour or two and then it magically comes right again, sometimes for a short period, other times longer.
There is no consistency, sometimes it will happen in a minute from cold, other times 2-3 hours later. Reverse is always OK. When it stops traveling forward, the "F" light still stays engaged.
Last week I visited the Kioti dealer and drove around their lot. In 3 hours it acted up only twice and then for just a few seconds, so the tech could not see the issue.
I was told it is likely the "Transmission Controller" needing replacement. At the link below, I found an RX parts list which looks like it's for an RX6630, so close enough. On page 202, the part is identified as a "Power Shuttle Controller", not a "Transmission Controller".
Yesterday, 1 minute after starting use the unit acted up again. I removed the plate inside the cab floor and took the controller out to inspect it. Simple removal, two plugs into the unit. Both plug connections were clean with no broken wires or bent or corroded pins. Looked like new. I dismantled the unit further, removing the plastic plate. The electronics are all sealed with some sort of flexible gel seal, not epoxy, but essentially a sealed unit. Photos attached.
Notice the Kioti part number in the photo is T5275-69303. Calling two parts dealers today, I was informed that the number has changed from the original to another with apparent enhancements. The price has also increased from around $650 to $1,192.49 + tax and shipping. A further 2 hours shop labor is also required, so I'm expecting a repair bill will run from $1,500 - $2,000.
Each dealer gave me a different number and these are:
- T5275-69304 (This one seems more likely and is a single number different from the original
- T5227-69307 (this was the first response - the second dealer says it is an invalid number
Hence my question above: Is it possible to complete a reset or re-program of the power shuttle controller unit? I'm a fairly technical computer guy, so when I asked the dealer about whether the unit had a ROM and could be "re-flashed", he looked at me like I was a martian. LOL. It seems like Kioti parts and a swap it, set it up and let 'er rip style of fix. Understandable given field service requirements. However, I'm wanting to see if anyone knows about resetting, or has had a similar issue.
Thanks
This is the link to a PDF of what looks like a similar parts list (Power Shuttle Controller on Page 102).
