I searched and couldn't find anything on this, so here goes.
I'm getting close to being done with all the heavy dirt work I needed to do, which means I won't really need a full size backhoe, dozer and dump truck parked in the barn before long. The short version is I've been moving a couple thousand yards of dirt in stages to areas around my property. I have the dirt in a big pile, use the backhoe to load the dump truck, drive it where it needs to go and then use the dozer to spread it out and grade it. Once this is done, I can get rid of all of those machines and rent something if I need a dozer or mini-ex for a day here and there (not too likely).
My general plan has been to sell the backhoe, dozer, dump truck, and my Massey and buy a Utility machine in the 75hp+ size as well as a SCUT to handle all my tractor chores. I also have a 16' dump trailer which I'll keep to take care of moving a little dirt/mulch/etc as needed.
I'm just starting to look around to figure out what I want and noticed that Kioti's PX9020 is listed as having a Tier III Perkins engine. How are they getting around Tier IV requirements? Was it based upon when they bought the engines, or something similar?
I'm not super hung up on staying away from Tier IV, and the PX9020 is probably a bit more tractor than I was planning on, but I have the room for a larger machine, and I wouldn't have to worry about a DPF failing down the road, or deal with DEF now. Seems like a win-win, but maybe I'm missing something?
