Hey guys. I have a Kioti 55HP HST tractor I bought new in October. I had a previous hydraulic leakage issue my dealership resolved for me last month. I used the tractor for the first time since getting it back from that repair this past weekend to do about 7 hours of bush hogging. The issue I'm experiencing now is when I have it in medium gear, unless I have the pedal all the way to the floor, the transmission continually jerks from fast to slow and slow to fast speed. The jerk is felt throughout the tractor. Very noticeable. When I use the cruise control, it smooths out completely and maintains a constant smooth speed. The second the cruise control is released, the jerky jumping transmission returns.

I have checked my hydraulic fluid level and it's perfect on the dip stick. Has anyone experienced this before or have any suggestions? I'm really hoping NOT to have to take the tractor back in to the dealership. I have two Kubota HST tractors before buying this one. They were both problem free tractors for 500+ hours total. I can't say the same for this new Kioti tractor I own now. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Maybe it can be troubleshot and resolved over the phone. Your dealer needs to know that there's still an issue. It's really in their interest to resolve a problem that they introduced.

Generally things like this are due to trapped air in the hydraulic system. But, one would think that a handful of cycles (not sure if cycling between forward and reverse several times or between gear ranges would be the thing, perhaps not a bad idea to try if you haven't already done so) would resolve this.

I have over 230 hrs now on my NX5510CH and haven't had any hydraulic issues (only a cab leak and a rear axle leak, both fixed by the dealer).

One other thing... check to make sure that any of your hydraulic controls aren't engaged w/o attached hoses- dead-heading the hydraulic pump. I once bumped one my levers and the tractor's power was really reduced and it was feeling like it was shuddering. Freaked me out. After settling down from an early panic I thought the problem through and it's then that I realized that I was dead-heading.

I realize that this doesn't explain why things can settle down when using cruise control, but...

Did you find out the problem? I'm having the exact same issue with my Kioti 45HST with only 25 hrs on it

Exact same issue? It doesn't exhibit problems with the speed control set? If so, then it might be the travel pedal potentiomers that are flaky. I'd be surprised, however, if they could both be flaky (reverse as well as forward)- same issue if running in reverse?

Reason why I'm leaning toward potentiometers is because once the speed control is set the computer is managing the travel speed. That would be my understanding of how it works, I could be wrong.

Other thing, if it's ALWAYS an issue (reverse also) it could be the hydraulic system: from a filter issue to a pump issue.

If you set the cruise it will run fine but, if you use the pedals it will jerk if you try to get upto speed. I have to go about half speed or it will jerk and stop. I was trying to wait till the 50hr service to do anything but, it's becoming a pain to mow with it like this.

Does it also jerk in reverse? There are TWO potentiometers, one for forward and one for reverse. I do not know, however, whether one flaking out can cause confusion with operating in the other travel direction: the system won't change travel direction if it thinks the pedal is depressed for both directions (not sure what happens if you, when going in one direction and holding that travel pedal steady, push on the other pedal concurrently- I know that the CAL light will light up and you won't move if this happens from a dead stop). Doesn't take much to take a look to see if the wires and connectors going to the potentiometers are OK.

I'm assuming that the other hydraulic functions operate fine: if anything is weird with say the loader then it's likely an issue IN the hydraulic system (and not electrical).

Kioti never resolved the problem. They refunded me 100% of what I had paid 6 month prior for the tractor. I bought another Kubota and have not had a single issue since. Sorry you are having the same issue. My dealership is what made the difference for me. They have to be in your corner and push Kioti to either fix the problem or admit they can't fix it and refund your money. Period.
