Gone thru the forums looking for someone else who has a fix for my hard steering when turning right. Found descriptions of the problem but no fix.

Turning from center point & turning left, steering works like it all ways has. But from center point turning right it will turn but requires adding alot more force.
I noticed the hard steering this spring but it was not all ways hard I seem to recall that in the beginning it would be ok when starting but after a few turns it would difficult to turn right.

If I lift the weight off front axel and turn the steering wheel or grab a tire and push it right or left I do not feel any binding. Its the same if the tractor is running or not running. The amount of force required in both directions feels to be the same.

Hope to hear from someone who has resolved this.

A couple of questions.

1. Have you been greasing the axle pivots on each side? These often are overlooked.

2. Does raising the RPM help any with turning?

3. Are you attempting to turn the wheels sitting still or while moving? Does it matter?

There is a pressure relief on the steering unit itself that is adjustable. You need a pressure gauge to check and adjust.

Some folks have had problems with the shaft balls coming out of the column and getting in the bottom sector gears. Finding replacements have been a challenge but some of the Kubotas use the same steering unit and have parts available.

Hope this gives some direction and others may have better suggestions.

Thanks for the reply.

1. Yes I have regularly greased the axel.

2. RPM has no affect.

3. Its while moving & no load. It steers the same with or without load going forward or backing-up.

I have the workshop manual but its for a LK3054XS. From what I have been able to see looking at the manual the LK3054, (model I have) steering is different.
The manual shows a right & left steering cylinders mounted down on the front axel. My LK3054 does not have any cylinders on front axle, just the steering arm/shaft coming down the left side of the LK3054 connecting to the left wheel & then another arm going to the right wheel. So I am confused on how the power steering pump gets activated & de-activiated. any pointers to better documents would be appreciated.

Where is the pressure relief valve? What type of pressure gauge do you need and where do you connected in at? Where do I find info. on what the pressure should be & how to adjust.

It could be the shaft balls, I did have a local repair shop rebuild the steering assembly 8 years ago due to sloppy steering column. Its worked great since but now hard turning to right only. What symptoms would I see if the shaft balls are not in place?

If you look at where the lines go to the steering box on the left side you will see the pressure relief. There is a port to tap into for a gauge but I am not sure which one it is.

You would have to remove the sector output shaft to see if any of the balls are in the gear box. Might be easier just to take it back to the local mechanic to troubleshoot for you. He sounds like he would know if he rebuilt the box for you once. Might be cheaper in the long run. Either way, good luck!
