Kioti Factory Fill Engine Oil

It was interesting to me that the Kioti tractor manual and the Bobcat tractor manual do not callout the same oils for the same tractor (except for the marketing paint). You have the best setup with the heated bay for tractor storage.

I think Bobcat realizes that 15W40 is far more common here than 10W40 and in the right temperatures, 15W40 won't have any more startup wear than 10W40. In general most engines don't really care what viscosity the oil is unless its really cold or really hot. I run all sorts of oils in my cars and a Neon spec'd for 10W30 runs just fine in the summer with 15W40 diesel oil, and for thrashing it around the track, the 15W40 is going to be better when the oil temps start to soar.
Kioti should really update their oil chart for N. America in this decade. My manual specs obselete CC or CD oils which hasn't been made since the 60's? I doubt a 10W40 CC oil ever existed.... My dealer is good with 5W40 rotella T6 for year round use and according to shell its better than their 15W40 in every way so I'm pretty confident in using it.

Agree that Kioti's Oil Specification chart should be updated. They could just copy the Bobcat information. The Bobcat engine oil direction looks like it is well thought out for North American available oils. I have used alot of 15W-40 in trucks and a gen sets for warmer use but believe the 5W-40 synthetic oils offer less initial cold startup wear with the same 40 wt protection when it it gets hot. The 5W-40 Synthetic CJ-4 oils seem to be a great oil for cold and hot use.
