Just wondering what the Factory Fill Engine Oil Viscosity is in our Kioti Tractors from the factory. I am assumming the engine plant fills the engine oil and does a running engine test and leaves the same oil in for shipment to the dealer. Possibly they ship dry and let dealer fill with oil based on local temperatures.

Did my first oil change last week and today was pouring the used oil from the drain bucket into gallon jugs to transport the used oil to the auto store for recycle. Noticed the oil seemed to pour slow through the funnel about the same speed that the 15W-40 I use in my truck not like the 10W-30 I use in some of the other equipment. Made me wonder what viscosity they fill with.

Thanks

My dealer said it was 10W30, no mention of break in oil though. It seems very clear on the stick to me though. What oil did you put in? I''ve got my Rotella 5W40 T6 on sale a couple weeks ago.

FWIW, I chose to use Amsoil's 15-40 DIESEL specific synthetic oil. It's not cheap, but neither was my DK-40, so I want to give it any possible advantage to run long and smooth.

I used Rotella T5 10W-40 Synthetic Blend. The 10W-40 viscosity was called out in the Kioti Specifications for the temperature range I use the tractor. I do not use the tractor in the winter.

For extreme cold weather with the ability to run in warm temperatures, the Rotella 5W-40 T6 would be be a good year round oil.

Thanks

Do you use your tractor in very cold temeratures? Wondering if the 15W-40 is slow to crank. I use 15W-40 year round in my diesel truck with no slow crank or starting issues. For the CK tractor I was shocked that Kioti did not call out 15W-40 but instead called out 10W-40 and 10W-30. Interesting that the Bobcat Brand manual show 15W-40 as one of the viscosity choices. (must be the different color paint requires different oils)

I have been using the 15-40 Amsoil to date, but soon I am switching to Mobil 1 full synthetic turbo diesel truck, ( tractor, etc.) 5W-40 oil. No particular reason than availability of Amsoil, and the added hassle of having to become a preferred customer, having to pay to ship to me, etc.
And yes, I do run the tractor in all temperatures that Vermont throws my way, BUT, I keep my DK-40 inside a heated barn bay, so it's never an extreme cold start situation.
Check out my recent thread in the oil, fuel and lubricants forum, it talks about the various synthetic oils and the pluses and minuses.
If one goes to a synthetic one should stay with a synthetic, regardless of brand particulars.

Coyote, You mind if I ask what you paid for you DK40SE? A dealer by me wants 34,000 for tractor ,FEL and Backhoe.

Nope, don't mind.
What is the breakdown for each piece, DK-40,FEL, hoe?
Send me a PM if you want to know the prices I paid.

Was following your thread in the oil/fuel/lube Forum.

If I used my tractor in the winter I would use either the Rotella T6 5W-40 or the Mobil Truck SUV 5W-40 as I believe the 5w would help the cold starts for initial wear and -40 side viscosity maintains the thicker viscosity when the temperatures get hot as well. The first oil change I used Rotella T5 10W-40 as it was the thickest multi-viscosity oil that met the Kioti oil specifications. If the manual would have allowed 15W-40 that would have been my first selection as I only run the tractor from about 40 to 95 F. It was interesting to me that the Kioti tractor manual and the Bobcat tractor manual do not callout the same oils for the same tractor (except for the marketing paint). You have the best setup with the heated bay for tractor storage.

Thanks
