Kioti DK55C
I have kinda been a lurker on here for years and always got my problem fixed. But my ac on my DK55C is eating my lunch! I finally got it to start cooling with a new compressor. It run for a couple of weeks and then blew the fuse to the ac/heater. I have crawled all over it looking for a mouse chewed wire and I don't seem to have a short when I check it with a meter. Tonight I unplugged the blower motor at the motor, put in 30 amp instead of a 25 amp fuse. It idled for about 5 minutes and then the fuse popped again. I am a long way from a dealer and I love my Kioti! Anybody got any ideas how to further check? Thanks for all the help you guys have given me, and didn't even know I was here! Poor Ol' BJ

Electrical issues are the absolute hardest to diagnose, especially if you're not there looking at it. Can you create a separate fused circuit just for the blower motor from the battery and try that? If it blows the fuse, I'd start looking at the blower motor drawing too much power. You can do a resistance test on the blower motor and compare it to specs....which I wish I could give you.

I assume you've already cleaned your grounds?

Glad you posted. Sorry no one has helped you yet on this issue. Electrical problems can be the toughest to diagnose, especially when we are not there. I would go back to the 25 amp fuse and keep working the problem. A good amp probe will help by trying to see what happens when fuse blows. You can read the amp draw while things are working and see if anything comes on when amps rise beyond the fuse rating.

Sometimes bad connections can create a symptom like you are having as the connection heats up. A voltage drop test will aid in finding a weak connection.

A bad wire could be the issue as well. Anyway I hope you get it cooling again, its just to hot to go without air!

Justman beat me to the punch! Great advice as well!

I'd disconnect the electromagnetic clutch on the compressor, put it in cooling mode, let the engine idle for at least 5 minutes, and see if the fuse stays intact, if it don't blow, either the clutch is shorting out from the heat, or your fuse block has a bad connection, which heats up the fuse, and opens it..

Thanks guys, I have messed with it most of the day. I "think" I have it narrowed down to the ac switch/rheostat. I jumpered the switch and run it for about 10 minutes with no problems! I am just double checking before I spend $130 on a switch. I'll do some more checking using the ideas you guys gave me. Some I've already tried, but I feel like I gained some headway today! Mice are a real problem around here and I was convinced there was one somewhere! I sure appreciate all the help. This forum has been awesome for me for years! Poor Ol' BJ
