Kioti DK35 Head Confusion

My Friend has purchased a DK35 with the Daedong 3A165 engine. According to the specs on the DK35, that is the only engine used. It needs a head and rebuild kit. The online parts suppliers say their head fits the DK35, but list it for the 3A150. Is it the same head? Any ideas? Can't find a used 3A165 anywhere, either.

Did anyone be the d an answer to this question? is the 3a165 LG and the 3a159e use the same head? NO luck finding a 3a165 head anywhere. If they changed numbers, then it may the same.. I just wanted to know before I paid that amt of money for a head that doesnt work. Thanks.

3A165 Daedong Engine:

In my research I have found no one seems to have much information on the 3A165 engine as far as what machines use this engine. Therefore I have assembled a list of models that (potentially) have and use this engine. It is a 1647cc or liter engine. It was made by Daedong(a South Korea company)(who is extremely hard to reach thru the Kioti Main Dealership). The hp range is around 26 on the low end and 35 on the upper range. All using the same block, the 1647 cc block. It is my assumption that those seeking a head can use any of these models below to get a head from. (For those who are seeking a USED head). Mihindra wants $3500.00 for a new head(bare heads no valves or guides). I found them online for around $800.00 and up. Either new or rebuilt. Kioti Diesel Engine Series Introduction Site will show you the engine ranges for the 3A165 series. Below is a list of the different machines that I have come up with that uses this engine. There is much question about the 3a150E engine head .. Does it fit or not? I still do not know at this time, but below is the models which use the Daedong 1647 cc engine listed as a Daedong engine for their model. Please be advised this is my list and I could have made a mistake in them, but it is certainly a place to get started looking for that head you need. Mine swallowed the valve seat. Yes the SEAT, Valve still in place. I see others have had the same problem. As a mechanic, I know that the problem is most likely the engine got overheated and water was put in before the engine had time to cool properly causing a crack in the head. My crack went thru the exhaust valve seat area, causing the seat to loosen and come out and be pounded to pieces by the piston against the head. I have found at least one other person who said the exact same thing about the middle piston exhaust valve seat coming loose. Most likely a common problem. Be advised this is what I have located in my search and is no way positively exact. But a good start.

I stated, please check each model out for yourself prior to ordering anything. This is just what I have discovered in my search.

I am sure there are other models out there using this engine. Daedong started making diesel engines in 1968 and have made reliable engines. Parts are a nightmare however. No one lists Daedong engine 3a165 and finding parts, you have to go thru various dealers for that particular model to find anything. I hope this list helps someone else. I have been searching for a head for my machine and this is some of my research. If anyone has a Head for this engine used, I would be interested UNTIL I finally find one without breaking the bank..

There is a company the rebuilds heads, located in Minnesota and Oregon. However I was quoted around $1200.00 for them to repair the head for my machine.

Perhaps Daedong, wants to keep the prices up by not allowing the parts to be readily available, I dont know, but certainly they think their parts are worth a mint. Good luck.
