kioti ck3510se hst pto not switching on

Hi All,

Hopefully this is an easy thing to troubleshoot. Ive got a 1 year old CK 3510 SE, with the hydro operated PTO. (Yellow knob on the fender). I went out to my land yesterday and hooked up the brush hog to mow the sides of the access road. When I turned the knob, nothing happened. The PTO did not spin.

The hydraulics in general worked since I use the tractor for a bit with the bucket and box blade, but the PTO wouldn't spin, even after taking the shaft off. Any ideas to help me troubleshoot this? Its my first tractor and has about 110 hrs. on it.

Any recommendations would be great. I'm going back out tomorrow.

Did you put the PTO in gear? Some tractors have a PTO selector with 540 - Neutral - 540E or Mid PTO.

Hydraulically actived PTO won't turn by hand because there is a spring actuated brake.

Your CK3510SE has a 2 stage live PTO clutch, with a PTO cable on the left to engage the PTO. Its a very simple process to engage the PTO on this tractor.

1. Make sure your clutch cable is working fine, maybe it needs adjustment due to initial wear.
2. Make sure your not in neutral gear
3. Make sure your PTO cable is working fine. Maybe it needs some adjustment.

You can troubleshoot if the PTO is engaging properly by DOING the following: with the tractor off, engage your PTO. Now try to start the tractor. If you cannot start your tractor, your PTO cable has successfully engaged the PTO. At least that part is working fine.

I honestly do not think removing your entire tractor PTO shaft was a good idea, its most likely not your problem.

On mine, the PTO switches on by turning the knob. I run the PTO brush hog about every 3 times I am there, this is the first the knob didn't turn it on.

Sorry, to add: I only run the brush hog sometimes. I have a shaft for the brush hog that snaps on and off when the brush hog is removed. It is fixed to the brush hog gearbox with a shear pin, and unlocks from the PTO shaft of the tractor with the push of a button.

That appears to be an Electric PTO switch you engage for your CK3510SE, and so everything I recommended is not applicable. Also, I now realize you were referring to the implement PTO shaft, and not the tractors PTO shaft.

A knob to engage the PTO? That seems strange that is it so different from a 2610, i thought they were pretty similar. Mine has a lever on to the left of the seat to turn on the PTO.
Is that aftermarket? I'm not well versed in tractors but what is the reason for it vs just the normal lever?
If its electronic could it just be a fuse?

Yes Indeed Levi333, the OP's PTO engaging switch is total different than on my tractor. I did no know that Kioti tractors have gone to this type of PTO switch. My zeroturn has the electromagnetic switch to engage the PTO.

If its a switch, then there is a fuse and a relay involved just like my dk45. My relay was starting to go out in mine. Cheap, easy repair on mine. Go to Home Michigan Iron & Equipment Morrice, MI (855) 265-459. and look up your tractor on their parts site.

Then again, you said its 1 year old. Warranty issue.

As it was explained when I was shopping, the SE makes it an electric vs mechanical, and adds other creature comforts and features that are options on the non-SE. I'll try and look for a fuse first when I go back out tomorrow. Anyone know if its in-line or in the fuse-box?
