I've been in the market for tractors for a year or more; researching off and and on. We live on a few acres of land and at some point may move to a larger property. I spent time clearing a good portion of the land by hand and with the help of a neighbor with a tractor. In exchange he got to wood for heat and we now have a good friendship. It started my interest in tractors.

I've been able to get by without a tractor but having one would be nice. Here's what I do now and then what I'd like to do.

We've slowly gotten into gardening over the years and and much more into it along with animals.

  • Driveway: We have a 120'~ driveway that I snow-blow with a walking snowblower; I put my snow cloths on and hat and take care of the job. That wet, heavy snow is what really gets me, it's very difficult to heave on that snowblower to move the stuff.
  • Lifting: I normally get compost, manure and use a wheel barrow to move it to where it needs to go. That distance has increased along with the amount. Lifting of pallets and drums would be nice.
  • Pulling: At times I need to pull some logs or a large wood chipper around. For the chipper we borrowed an ATV and the logs... we rolled but dragging would be good
  • Ground prep: Using a ground rake would be beneficial
  • Mowing: Not sure that I would mow with a tractor, at least where we are now.

I'm very frugal with my money, we've been saving for awhile now, just in case we do decide to get a tractor. I'm starting to think that we will need a tractor more and more now but am still weighing those decisions.

I've looked at all of the specs and watched a bunch of videos. I've sat on both although the Kioti was brief. It looks like the Mahindra can easily lift and move a 4x5 round bail which is something we may need in the future.

Trying to decide between the two is difficult. The lift capacity is very close, the Kioti is heavier (not sure about wider or not), the Mahindra says 26HP while the Kioti is 24.5 and the Kioti has a little more PTO 21 vs 19. GPM seems higher on the Kioti but I can't tell if they are combining FEL and steering?

EDIT: Both dealers are basically the same distance

Both are good reliable tractors, and the tractor specs are indeed very close. The Kioti has slightly larger hydraulic capacity, and the 11.7 GPM Hydraulics on the Kioti is shared between steering and pump flow. Likewise, both these tractors are not required to have all the Tier4 emmissions equipment due to their horsepower ratings. In fact the Kioti 1.6L is a slightly stronger engine than the Mitsubishi 1.3L engine, but has been detuned below the 25.5 Hp threshold to insure there is no need for the Tier4 emmissions. And this shows up in the PTO ratings.

How are the local dealers for service and parts? Maybe this is equally important.

Both are about the same distance, just different directions. Mahindra states 26HP but is it really that or 24.5 or 25.5? And, is there that much of a noticeable difference?

I would assume the manufacturer PTO horsepower ratings are highly accurate for both these tractors. And the Kioti shows a 14% increase in PTO power and a 9% hydraulic flow increase over Mahindra. This should be noticeable for some tasks. Both have similar 3- range HST transmissions.

Availability of these tractors from local dealer maybe an issue during this Covid pandemic. My Kioti dealer is fully sold out on CK and DK models and will only take orders for future deliveries. Also, i rarely see any used CK2610 tractors on the market.

Mahindra is stocked up fine. One Kioti dealer had a couple in November (not sure about now) and the other is out totally. Also, no snow blowers until next fall they all say.

With the tractors basically being of equal capabilities, consider the ergonomics of them. You will spend many hours in the seat, might as well be as comfortable as you can.

One other thing, do you need-want aux hydraulics? The Kioti has 2 rear remotes available for less $$$ than the single rear remote that is available for the 1626.

I'm not sure about factory loader 3rd functions if you are interested in that, just that factory solutions for the 3rd functions are typically more $$ than 3rd party sets.

Either machine will perform well for you.

Good luck with your research and ultimate decision.

I'm not really sure what the remotes would be for? What application would I use them?

A grapple on the loader would typically use a 3rd function set for the loader.
If you will be grading very much, a hydraulic top and or side link is very useful for adjusting any implement.
Hydraulic angle for a rear blade.
Hydraulic dump trailer.

The list goes on. ;)

Rear hydraulic remotes are something you only miss, until you want to do more work with your tractor. For example many stump grinders use rear remote hydraulics to raise, lower and swing the stump grinder. Also hydraulics can better control box blades and rear blades for grading gravel roads, provide down force for 3pt Post Hole Diggers, and run wood splitters, provide hydraulics for backhoes and many other tasks.

I do not know where you are in NE, there is a great dealership in Belchertown, MA - Orchard Hill - he carries / sells Kioti and Mahindra - Marshall and Ed are very well versed in both lines might be interesting for you to stop by and run your needs by them.....
