Kioti CK20HST
I'm doing the worst thing for a newbie. Join a group and post with a question immediately. But I need help making a decision.

I'm looking for something in the 20HP range (I think) for mainly finish mowing around 3 acres and bush hogging 2. So HST is I think the way to go. But I'm looking at getting a 60" finish mower, 52" bush hog, 48" box scrape, and the FEL for whatever brand I decide on. As I said... MAIN purpose is mowing, but I want to be able to do the other stuff.

Question 1: Is 20HP enough for a 60" mower?
Question 2: (the biggie): Is there any reason I should choose Mahindra or Kioti over the other other than price? I should mention that I am leaning toward the Kioti but still not 100% sure yet. Especially if someone convinces me that 20HP may not be quite enough.

Either one should be able to handle a 60" finish mower. Are you talking about a mid-mount or rear-mount? Kioti's website says the CK20 can run a 60" rotary cutter. I think the Mahindra 2015 is the Mitsubishi which, in turn, used to be the Cub Cadet 7205. If I remember right the Cub Cadet was the closest, stats wise, to the CK20. I think the Kioti was a little better in some areas. Being both are so close, you can't go wrong with either. How far apart are the dealers? Have you tried the CK20 and 2015 out yet? I guess it all depends on the dealer and which one fits you better.

20hp will handle a 60in finish mower fine.

A reason to buy one over the other? Pick the dealer you like the best and buy his tractor. The only major difference between the tractors is the Kioti has a backhoe available, the Mahindra doesn't yet. I would make price 3rd on my list at most. 1st is dealer. 2nd is tractor/features. 3rd is price.

There are some other good tractors you should look at, JD 2210, 4010 and 4110, Kubota BX2230 and B7510. MF and NH also make good tractors in the class I just don't recall the numbers off the tops of my head.

In my opinion the JD and Kubota (I have no experience or opinion of MF or NH) are better mowing machines than the Kioti and Mahindra. They are lighter weight and higher HP. The Kioti and Mahindra are heavier and have stronger FELs. They will be better at FEL and groud contact work.

I have a 2015 HST with a 60" rear finish mower, runs it just fine. Both the Kioti and the Mahindra are heavier than the sub-cuts, but I haven't really had much of a problem with sinking in or tearing up the turf while mowing, and I have R-4's on mine.

I don't have a rotary cutter yet, but I plan on getting a 48". It would probably run a 52" fine, you might not be able to go as fast in the thick stuff.

Both the Mahindra and the Kioti are excellent tractors, you really can't go wrong with either.

The CK20HST and the 2015HST are very comparable. The loader cycle times on the 2015 are much faster, but as you will be using it mostly to mow, that won't be a big factor. The backhoe for the 15 series should be available within a couple of weeks.

As everyone has said they are very close, not many differences between the two. They both weigh about the same, Kioti has 1074 lbs of lift on the loader, not sure on the Mahindra. Im sure its about the same. Kioti has wet disk brakes, Mahindras are dry shoe. Spec wise they are really close, I would choose the tractor who has the best dealer.

The Mahindra FEL (ML104) has a lift capacity of 915 pounds.

In case you haven't seen the Kioti CK20 website, I'll provide the link. All the specs are listed for the machine and the attachments.

Here is a link to the stats for the Mahindra 2015. The stats are in PDF format and is about 1.72MB.

Good luck in deciding on the right machine. Be sure to post which one will be following you home, (with a few pics if possible)! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I'm with you, these two compare closely in many respects. I was totally convinced I was going Kioti until just recently a Mahindra dealer opened here in Louisville. I went over for a look and was favorably impressed with the 2015HST. The old "seat test" resolved nothing as I found nothing really objectionable about either. One odd thing I do like much better on the Kioti CK20HST, the floor of the operator's platform has a nice rubber mat. The Mahindra has a painted metal floor with holes punched in it. With no mat at all in time as the paint inevitably wears off this will look rough. Not much of a gripe and certainly not a disqualifier. As far as dealers, it's the local Kioti dealer hands down. He's a dedicated tractor dealer with two locations and plenty of units and parts in stock. He knows his product, uses it himself and promotes it in a way that's believable because he uses it. He also beat two other quotes and he's 25 minutes away! The Mahindra guy looks like he just added tractors to his used car business. Talking to him he admitted I knew more about them than he did. Both are a good product, but Kioti's in the lead on the basis of the dealer. I also looked at the JD4110 and was favorably impressed. A bit pricey, but definitely some good features. The JD dealer indicated he would be interested in dealing, but with where he started I'm not sure he's gonna be in the park. I really had hoped to have made my purchase by now but everything has fallen behind any kind of schedule. I'm sure many others could report the same. Let us know how your shopping proceeds. Visit the Kioti and Mahindra forums often for more info. Good luck! DMB.

I can't add much, but I do want to welcome you to TBN, and there is NOTHING wrong with posting right away. There is no unwritten law that says one can't ask a question when in need! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif I own a CK20HST and it will run a 5 foot finish and brush mower fine. I run a 4' brush mower and even in the high stuff it never bogs down so I know the 5' would do just fine. Kioti states both are fine for that tractor. I looked at the same Mahindra and found it to be quite nice but I didn't like the dealer at all so we never even got around to pricing. I, like you, liked the finish of the Kioti's platform better, and generally all around fit and finish appeared slightly better with Kioti. Wishing you luck in your search, John
