Anyone have experience with Kearney trailers? Kearney Trailers, LLC - Emory, TX

I was thinking of buying one but I have never heard of the brand before and a google search does not bring up much.

My buddy has a 40 foot dovetail that probaly has over 100k with out any problems. He uses it for hotshot hauling. I have pulled it a few times, it seems like a good trailer.

They are fairly popular around East Texas as they are built here, as are two other brands, Big Tex and Legends trailers. Kearney and Big Tex make all type and sizes of trailers. I bought the Big Tex as that's what my NH dealer sells and he made me a nice deal. You can get some decent priced ones off of the East Texas area Craigslist.

Legends is not as well known, they specialize in GN and pintle hitch trailers. They are just up the highway from me, south of Canton. They make a really nice stout trailer.

Thanks for the replies. The Kearney seems to be about 1k cheaper than similar offerings from Big Tex, PJ, Top Hat, etc. The trailers look good to me but I was trying to figure out why they were so cheap or what corners they were cutting.

From the road they have a smaller shop than the others, less overhead. They also do welding jobs. The trailers I have looked at seem OK in quality. They also sell their own product, no middleman.

I don't know anything about Kearney, but if you want to compare them to another vendor, I would ask what brand axles they use and what material they use, like size of angle, i-beam, etc.. The weight of the trailer will tell you how heavy duty they are for a comparison.

I have been looking for a trailer also, and the kearneys look good to me. The dealer that we got our tractor from has a big tex for the same price, so we will probably get it from him.

I have a 20' 14K from them. Good trailer but the paint job is sub par. I would put another coat on if you decide to get one.

I was talking with my buddy today that has a Kearney and a PJ, they are both 40 footers. He said the Kearney has close to 300 thousand miles with the original brakes, it has dexter axles which we converted to air-ride suspension. the PJ has over 200K miles, both are good trailers, he likes the Kearney best.

I looked at the Kearney trailers near here the other day.(They have an outlet just north of Tyler TX) They may be Ok,but seemed amateurish, sloppy welds, lightweight metal, poor paint jobs. Then that weekend,I went to the Titus County fair in Mt Pleasant, where Big Tex is manufactured. They had a whole area of displays. The Big Tex are very nice and you can tell they go the extra mile with very good welds, high tech paint, very well designed with some neat features. As both are near me,I'll bite the bullet, spend a little more and get the Big Tex.
