John Deere 990 MFWD and a few others
They are on their way and will be here next week. I bought the All Season 57 series: 5x7, 55w, KC light covers, chrome body for 135 bucks. List price is way higher but Pep Boys seems to be good for prices. In the meantime I am going to make the mounting brackets out of scrap iron I can get at work and mount them to the factory canopy mounting holes rubber mounting it and then use factory wiring harnesses in the rear of the tractor to tie the lights into the switch on the dash. It will look pretty good when I am done maybe post a pic or two if I get time. For my brackets all I am going to do is find a 90 degree piece of thin iron we have laying around and that will allow me to utilize the tapped holes in the rops to mount the bracket to then drill the 3/8 hole in the top of the bend and mount my light. So the lights will be right over the top of the roll bar without drilling into it.

Yes Please! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I intend to put some extra work lights on my 990 when I get it and would love to see how yours work out.

Brad.

Cool. Next week they come in and tomorrow I am going to go through the scrap metal at work and see what I can find to make my brackets. Not too complicated just have to drill 3 holes in each bracket and install the lights. My kit includes all the wires so I should be good to go. Plus the KC lights will look sweet in my opinion and I would still like the get the exhaust chromed this summer.

Oh yeah one more thing, were you looking at getting KC highlights or what brand were you thinking of? We sell Hobbs brand at the JD dealership and they are good too. We have a 12 year old pair on our 970 and they have never failed us. They are the factory lights and many sizes and styles are available and for a 4x6 light it is 33 bucks. Not bad.

Honestly, I haven't really thought about what brand or style yet. I'll wait until I get the tractor so I can check out different mounting locations, although the existing mounting holes in the ROPS are the obvious candidates. Probably just end up with some generic auto driving lights and fab up some mounts.

If I can find some lower wattage lights that still put out a reasonable amount of light, I'll probably put a set facing forwards and one facing backwards. Can't have too much light when working in the dark!

How long have you been waiting for your 990? There are 2 pre drilled holes in the rear fenders for the stock work lights although if you get the Hobbs brand the holes will need to be drilled out some. Since I got the other handle for the fender I put those 2 rubber plugs in where the holes in the rear of the fenders are. Looks factory. If you get the standard work light that is in the accessory list for the 990 I believe that will require no modification but it is a round light not square like most of the Hobbs.

I've been waiting just over 2 months. Two long, torturous months! /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

The original shipping date given to my dealer by the distribution center (I *think* it comes from Georgia unless I heard wrong) was June 7. I haven't heard anything one way or the other yet, so I'm assuming that date still stands. One more week!!

I've got several build-it-yourself projects planned. The first two are a tooth bar and a rear blade (I have the blade itself, it just needs a 3pt mount). I also have a nice digital camera, so prepare for lots of pics!

You may well have thought this through already but just in case you haven't. Be careful that you don't overload the factory circut , switch etc. Those two 55 watt lights will place a considerable load on that already loaded circut.

Yeah, that's why I need to find some low-ish wattage lights if I am going to put on 2 sets. Especially for the 990 which only has a 20 amp alternator stock.

I know that on my NH TC35D when I turn on all my auxillary light, (with all factory lights on) I can hear my tractors engine pick up the load. With factoring in my tractors factory electrical load, I am at the high margin's of my electrical system.
My tractors auxiliary lighting is a system completely separate from the tractors electrical. It starts with a 12 Gage, stranded copper conductor direct from the battery, into a 30 amp circuit breaker (resettable) into a 4 gang switch box (individually fused) and then off to the appropriate lights.
I am running 2 55 watt plow lights (on hi beam) 2 35 watt rear back up lights (seldom used) and 4 hazard lights( 2 rear 2 55 watt) ( to be changed) and 2 forward (at ? wattage). Mine, may well be a little overkill, but what I am getting at, is when I turn my lights, especially my 2 55 watt plow lights, I know it by the sounds of my tractor. I am certainly glad that I did not run this extra load through my factory system.
I am not saying that what your doing is wrong ! am just suggesting that you be careful ? /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
