Hi,

I just bought a DK40se hst with FEL and KB2485 backhoe. I was using the backhoe the other day and tried to 'press' the tractor up into the air and swing it left a foot or two. Problem was, the backhoe couldn't lift the tractor (press the tractor up into the air). Is this normal? The backtires are loaded with rimguard so they weigh about 800lbs each. The backhoe weighs a little over 1000lbs. There's the back of the tractor and then me. It almost lifted it up a couple of times, but just couldn't seem to give it that final 'umph.'

Thanks for the input.

I assume you also got the Kioti subframe for that hoe? Using the 3-pt hitch
(not advisable) puts the hoe somewhat farther out back.

Anyway, the first thing to check is the relief valve pressure at the hoe. Often they are
set too low. A well-made hoe should handle what the DK40 puts out (about 2500psi).

If the pressure checks out, you ARE asking a lot to lift the tractor with all that added
ballast.

One other comment on this before I test is that the BH digging force is 3,700#s and dipperstick force is 2,500#s, so I'm guessing the 'press' ability is probably somewhere inbetween.

I have a Kioti 45 with backhoe. It will not pick up rear end either. I used to do it with a friend's full sized backhoe that I could borrow from time to time. I think it just part of having a smaller machine. I also miss the reach of full sized machine. It sure beats a shovel though. I did a pressure check on mine it was dead on 2700 psi.

Hi NC Redneck,

I think I'm going to listen to you, skip the pressure test, and take a tire off if I need to pick up the rear end (hahaha). I have a feeling the tractor et al is just too heavy.

Lower the bucket to the ground and put the boom in 'float' or press down with it. I use all 3 (outriggers & boom) when I want to 'press' the tractor

I believe the 3700# is for the bucket curl and the 2500# is for the dipper. The boom is doing 99% of the lifting. My KB2375 on a CK30hst, no loaded tires, will allow me to lift the rear but I only do that in an emergency. The bh and mounting isn't like a dedicated bh machines strength. Your DK40se weights much more than mine, especially with loaded tires, so I think you're just asking a bit more than it can do.

the owners manual may have a line that reads.... "do not fill rear tires when backhoe is on"

ya need to remember when lifting rear of tractor off ground, your (kids tetter totter) err focal point becomes your front tires and/or your FEL (front end loader) and then backhoe. were it rests on ground. ya lifting up entire tractor weight plus the hoe.

to note it, i would discourage trying to move rear of tractor with any backhoe. it can be rather hard on the structural supports and swing cylinders. granted folks do, do it. but it puts a pretty heavy bind on things.

My DK45 with the 2485 hoe will lift the rear wheels but only slightly, just enough to get the chains snugged up. My tires are not loaded.
