Kawasaki Mule noise

I have a Kawasaki Mule 2510 4 wheel drive. It makes a loud clang and almost lurches when it does. It almost sounds like it will break a gear off of somewhere. Any ideas.
I once thought it was the bed was loose but that is not the case. The noise comes and goes but I would like to get it corrected before it definitely breaks something. Thanks

Mine also does something similar. Mines seems to do this when I get on the road from being off road. The clang sounds like the mule is coming out of 4 wheel drive but the lever had been out of 4 wheel drive for awhile when it does this. It doesn't happen every time but it has happened a few times. I haven't been able to figure it out yet.

I have a 2009 4010 transmule. When the 4wd lever is disengaged, it seems it still remains engaged until it eventually slips out. If you drive around, start and stop it seems to just slip out unnoticed. you can "feel" this in the lever itself. You can generally hear the difference in 4wd and 2wd at higher speeds.....just a bit more gear howl when in 4wd. if you continue agressive driving when the lever is taken out of 4wd and it really isnt, you may hear a louder clunk or snap when it finally pops out.

When i want to be sure i'm out of 4wd, i stop completely, select 2wd and rock the machine back and forth from forward and reverse....then it pops right out without any noise......you can also "feel" it in the selector lever linkage if it is out of 4wd.

By the way.....love the Mule!! 360 hours on her now and no problems. i couldnt run the farm without it.
