55HP 4WD KAMA 554 and 4 x 4 Jinma 284
After reading all those safety threads I thought it might be a good idea to get a PTO shaft cover for my KAMA 554. Anyone know where I can get one? My tractor did not have one and my dealer and I are not getting along so good so he's no help. So I'm turning to you guys.
Thanks,

I can send you one, it bolts on with 4 bolts and will require trimming some material off the PTO shield to use it. We normally dont ship them with ours eaither but have a couple laying around the shop, it is just plastic cover with 4 bolt holes, it does not screw on like the iron one Jinmas use. You can also get a rubber one to slide over the end of the shaft like our Kiotis come with.

I don't know if we have ever had a tractor where the cover last more than a year.

You can easily fashion one out of a flat piece of metal. Curve it like the brim of a hat and hang it over the pto with some wire.

It's not as safe as a full cover and won't protect from dust, etc... but you are less likely to touch it while hooking up implements, etc...

The cover I am talking about is to cover the splines and protect them from weather, not the PTO shield which should stay on the tractor all the time. The tractors ship with a plastic cover over the shaft, but the PTO shield will not fit over this cover so it gets removed during assembly, the PTO sheild obstructs the holes preventing reattachment of the cover without some cutting so they usually end up in the trash. Grease aslo makes agood protective coating, but dirt will stick to it.

Bluechip,
I'm not sure that I have either the PTO Shield not cover. This is not a very good picture with the boxblade brackets in the way, but you can see the rear of the tractor behind the brackets. Maybe you can tell me if there is a shield or cover....I don't think so.
If you have what I want/need(maybe both), let me know and I'll order from you. Send me a PM when you get a chance.
Thanks,

It looks to me like you are missing the PTO shaft shield. Its purpose is safety. To help prevent a persons clothes, hair, etc get caught up in the rotating shaft and being injured or killed.
Is that what you are referring to?
Here is a pic attached of a Jinma with a shield or cover I speak of.

Harry, what you got running on there?

As for the KAMA PTO shield, you most likely will need to get it from your dealer. I don't think I have any extras, we get one with each tractor and one leaves on every tractor but I will check. The cover I have to offer is just a plactic cap that bolts to the four holes closes to the PTO shaft. Use a lot of caution, until, and even after, you install the shield.

Chip,
If you could check on the shield for me I'd be much obliged. Even if you have to order one. No way am I getting one from my dealer, he's got no time to service me so I've given up on him.
In the mean time, if you don't have a shield, I'll take that plastic cover. Just send me a PM with the necessary transaction information so you can send one to me.
Thanks,

It wouldn't be terribly difficult to make one. Use this photo for a guide, maybe you know somebody with a metal shop

Side note: you might want to consider dust plugs for your hydraulic remotes.

Here's a picture of a handmade shield, just for an example. (I bought this off a VN 'rebuilt' Yanmar.)

This one should have been taller. I had to bend the upper part upward to attach a mower driveline.

A welding shop can look at Greg's photo and this one, and build a similar unit. Just take in a tracing of the attachment bolt holes.
