Hello, I'm new to this site but in need of some quality insight and heard if I cant get an answer here, then there is no answer!
I am seeing as I pull and push the 4x4 engage lever in and out, that it feels like its clicking in and out of engagement but there
is no sign of engagement at the front wheels. I'm wondering if there's a roll pin that could have sheared off at the transmission,
or is there a way of knowing if the front drive shaft is turning or not? Any info is more than I have so far,
Thanks! John.

I would go to Kubotabooks.com and look at the parts diagrams. There is a roll pin on the 4x4 engagement lever, coupling collars on the propeller shaft and an "L" shaped shift lever that slides the drive gear in/out. I suspect it is likely to be one of those parts that needs attention. Doesn't appear that any of them are a difficult repair.

Darryl, thanks again, I tore into that project like I had been in there every day! Problem ended up being the splines of the front driveshaft coupler were stripped clean and the power wasnt getting to the front diff. Bought parts, cleaned the parts up ti be reinstalled, and finishing it up today. Big help!

For the splines to shear off there is another problem . check the oil level . lift the front end of tractor couple of inches . then try to move the axle forward or backwards if there is a looseness feeling check the bolt front center of pivot should be tight (25) ft. lb/ torque .

If this is good . feel the shaft going into the front differential is there a smooth rotation or grinding . then same for each wheel rotate and feel for grinding feel . any metal ground off the internal parts will fall into the bearings of front end .
If have been running in 4 whl. drive on concrete as if cleaning a barn floor or loading feed silage the front axle is straining to slip and can cause the drive (Pilot shaft) axle to break.
I had a employee drive a Kubota 5 miles on black top in 4 whl drive and the whole front end gears bearings seals had top be replaced.
