Anyone have one they don't need?
That one is a 'D' series, not sure if it is interchangeable or not. But you did better than me..........the best I can find is a 4 year old thread on another forum, with a 'dealer' not being able to find one.I don't have 1 but this is currently on the salem oregon craigslist.
diesel 3cyl. block
I got a rush from that ad. It looked right but was a 52 cu. in. 18hp and mine is a 91 cu. in. 27HP. There are 30HPs out there with turbo. This same engine was used in the 1991 Case IH 1140, the Cub Cadet 727* series, and Mahindra 2816s, and some European pavement roller I saw once online.
Thanks for trying. I have been digging for one for a over a year now.
When I went to Cub Cadet right after it happened, a dealer mechanic said he'd look into it for me. He called me back later and told me that I had a paperweight. Still hopeful.
K3M Mitsubishi gets many hits for the airplane they gave the same model number.
You need to get a block number and check it against the one advertised. That possibly could be the same block as yours, except your 91 cu. in. may be produced by a slightly larger bore, and a longer stroke crankshaft. You should try and find more exacting specs, such as bore and stroke for both engines. Good Luck!
What engine parts do you now have?
Here's a listing for a parts machine kind of close to you in Tangent OR. CASE IH 275 Parts, CASE IH 275 Machine Salvage, CASE IH 275 Dismantled Machines At TractorHouse.com. No idea what shape the block is in, what you are wanting to spend or what $$$ they would ask but thought I would mention it.
Ever considered an engine swap as IH3444 mentioned? You could lookfor a cheap running engine from a slightly different series that might (likely would) work. Something like a K3H or even an S3L2 that was used in the Cub 7260/5 tractors and Toro 5300 ReelMaster( spec'ed out at 32 HP in the Toro :thumbsup....just a thought and a way to expand your options/something to keep your eyes out for.
Is it possible to post a few pictures of the cub cadet with the engine removed so that maybe someone might come up with a good idea of a possible engine replacement other than the K3M engine. Are there any other forums devoted to your Cub Cadet that others have encountered the same situation, and subsituted another engine? What model and year Cub Cadet is it?
Is it at all possible to weld, or braze the crack? Any pictures of the crack in the block?
