Seems to be about where the price drops down to occasionally.

Never have paid full price for them.

Seem well worth $45 compared to a $15 plastic jug at walmart that needs the pout thrown away.

Galvanizing done with zinc, diesel has sulfur in it, sulfur reacts with zinc, banned in California, zinc sulfide labeled a carcinogen if you drink 2 gals or more a day of diesel fuel while taking anti-acids. Next question ?

I try to never drink more than 1 gallon per day of diesel.

Actually the diesel dissolves the zinc coating, and it ends up clogging fuel filters and trashing your injectors. I do use a galvanized funnel just to pour the diesel into the tractors, but I would not store diesel in a galvanized tank or can. My new favorites are the NoSpill cans with push button control. I have seen them in red, blue, and yellow.

I like the longevity of these cheapo gas cans with nothing to break off. I had and still have about 8 of them for 30 years and are still going strong. Anything with fancy nozzles that I owned last about a year and then can't get the nozzles. The only thing that breaks on these is the plastic tab that hold the tip to the spout, but a hose clamp keeps them attached nicely.

In california they are snowflakes. Everywhere else but Florida they are zinc flakes. There they are called sink flakes.

That more or less matches what I've heard as well. Not good chemical reactions & the galvinizing flakes off creating gritty contamination.

I also ran into problems in the mid 80s with the first introduction of E10 gasoline. I was repairing Volvo automobiles for a living back then and they had galvanized gas tanks. The ethanol was dissolving the galvanized coating and clogging the filters and injectors. I began draining every fuel filter I removed during a tune up to check for the use of E10. The fuel would come out of the filter silver in color and after sitting a few hours it would settle out as clear gas on top with the dissolved coating in the bottom.

Does your finger get tired of holding the button down......saw such and that was my first question.
