Tractor
Kubota B7610
Hi all, like many I've been lurking and reading about tractors on here for some time now. Today I finally went out and purchased a B7610HSD with a 352 loader, 4ft. bushhog, 4ft. boxblade, and 60" rear PTO finish mower for $14,950. I hope that sounds reasonable, because once I got there and looked at it....it was too late to turn back. Delivery should be tomorrow, and I'll have 5 truck loads of dirt waiting for it when it gets here. I doubt I'll sleep much tonight. BTW, I wanted the 72" mower but the salesman said the 60" would be a better fit for the B7610. Anyone have comments on this?

Congratulations! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif you made a good choice, although I don't know about the mower because I don't have one yet. Most dealers will guide you in the right direction because they want you to come back when you need something else, and if they mislead you once, you may not go back. Have fun!

Congratulations, Mark, and welcome to Tractobynet. Sounds like a real nice combination, and in answer to your question, I agree with your salesman. At least the 60" finish mower is as large as I'd want to go on that tractor. Personally, I preferred removing the front end loader when mowing, although there's certainly nothing wrong with leaving it on. But I know when I picked up my 60" finish mower with the 3-point on a B2710, I had no problem, but I could definitely tell the front end was light. So, while your tractor should have plenty of power for that mower, I think you'll find the front end pretty light when you pick up the mower.

Mark -

Congrats on the B7610 - I think you'll soon agree that it is one great machine! (among so many other great machines, of course!)

RE: 60" vs 72" mower...

I have *only* a 54" MMM - I can mow my @ 2 acres of lawn in @ 1 hour. I have a 5' wide gate I needed to go through - so the 60" was out of the question. Also have a fair number of trees, shrubs and large rocks to manuever around - so I thought the 54" would be better in that regard too - also easier for my wife to handle.

In my case - I think the extra 6" width would have not made much difference - mowing time-wise.

Your bio says you have 3 acres - about half of this cleared? (lawn or lawn to be?) - so I think the 60" will do you just fine. If you had more like 5 acres to mow - then you would have had a compelling reason to look at the 72".

The $15,000 you paid sounds like a decent price - your bio doesn't say where you live - but I paid a bit over $16K last year here in Massachusetts - but the MMM are costlier than the RFM. Plus you got some other 3 PH *toys* - I think you came out quite nicely indeed!

Lucky you: buy today - deliver tomorrow (well *today* now by my clock /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif ) - heck I waited @ 3 weeks for delilvery last year - as there were none on the showroom floor when I purchased!

Have a great weekend ahead & welcome to TBN!

Thanks for the responses on the 60" vs. 72". Sometime I get that bigger is always better mentality.....which is not always true. The plan is to clear and grass most of the 3 acres, but I will be leaving quite a few trees that I'll need to cut through.

I live just outside of Houston in a small town called Huffman, TX. I purchased the new tractor at a place called WOWCO in Baytown. I checked out the 3 closest places to me which were all 22 miles from my location. WOWCO was much better in service and in price.

Impatiently waiting for my tractor to arrive,

Is there any other way?

Congratulations on a fine choice. Don't forget the pics.

Well, as some of you know I had decided to purchase a BX23 about a week ago. After one more visit to the dealer today, I decided to purchase the B7610 as well. The price that I was quoted is $15675 out the door for the tractor, 60" MMM, loader, R4's and high capacity alternator. I think this was a decent price. I am also purchasing a Befco 50" tiller and 60" box blade and PHD. I would love to have had the hoe on the BX23 but I think this tractor will serve my present and future purposes much better. I should be taking delivery next weekend.

I must say that there are many features about the 7610 that I like better. For one, the engine runs at 2600 vs. the 3200 of the BX and it does not rattle. One thing I don't understand though, after growing up on a farm, you could reduce your turn radius by decoupling the brakes and using them when turning. Kubota has this on the B7610 however it is useless because you can hardly depress the HST pedal and brake at the same time. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I will take pictures when it arrives.

I find I hardly EVER run the engine at full RPM - I hardly need to. I find myself somewhere working between 1700 - 2000 rpms most of the time. I do "bump it up" to @ 2200-2400 rpms when mowing - that's about the only time you really notice the fuel level indicator change. I just love how this *little* diesel sips fuel! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

RE: Differential braking / turns

Yup - for everything else that's "right" with this CUT - this could be the one thing that makes you go "huh?" Often discussed is the possibility of using the "cruise control" lever ("speed control?"- it's on the center column next to the parking brake) - so the HST will maintain a constant forward speed - and then use the left / right brake to assist with a turn.

Confession: in just over 100 (clock) hours on my B7610 - I have NEVER used the cruise control - nor used / needed differential brakes for that matter either.

I have used differential brakes before - a rented JD 4700 TLB - and coupled with its' column forward / reverse lever (shuttle shift?) - and a "toe engine speed" pedal (letting you up the rpms with your foot just "when you need it" - ex when raising FEL) - made using the differential brakes very easy and useful. This was a substantially larger tractor - and this definitely helped with manuevering in tight spaces.

That being said - my needs really don't require differential braking - but at the same time - I wish I had it "just in case"....

I think you will enjoy your B7610 nonetheless!

Cheers,

Dan

I received my tractor late Friday night, and I couldn't wait to do something so I started moving dirt. Also, I went ahead and deleted the brush hog and purchased a Lands Pride Tiller instead. The final price was $15,725 from WOWCO of Baytown, TX.

So now I have 8 hours on it, and I have moved 4 truck loads of dirt (12 yrds ea.) and rough graded about 1.5 acres. I am so impressed with this little tractor. I've got about an acre left to clear and rough grade before I start mixing in soil amenities with the tiller. It will probably take a few days to complete, but the progress is just amazing. I can't wait to get home to start playing.....uh I mean working some more.
