Just picked up a 2135 hydrostatic drive on craigslist for 175. I felt it was a pretty good deal, has a 12.5 hp kohler command and front electric pto with 400 hours. Does anyone know the weight of the tractor? I cant find it in the manual. Also, I will be putting on a small loader, should I use onboard hydro or should I mount a seperate pump and engine? I feel that the 12.5 isnt powerful enough to run this setup. Thanks and I will post some pictures when I get time. The only problems with the tractor are missing side covers, dead battery, possible bent steering knuckle.

A 2K series with a 12.5hp one-lung and a 38" deck probably weighs in at ~600lbs. There's no charge pump on the hydrostatic drive, so tapping into it for auxiliary hydraulics would be a no-go. The small front tires/wheels on the 42" and under deck 2K's also would not support a loader very well. Great machine though. Lots of room under the hood with the single cylinder engine and an awesome drive system.

What do you think about pto driven pump? What about upgrading the front axle? frame seems pretty solid but I will make it stronger. thanks for input.

The front axles are plenty strong. The steering gear box is the usually the first thing to split open given the housings are cast aluminum. I know I trashed mine once on my 2544 due to my own stupidity.

An idea for auxiliary hydraulics might be to source a used hydraulic drive system for an OEM Cub 2K series rear mounted tiller. It's a self contained system that basically mounts under the tractor with a small sub-frame and runs off the PTO drive belt. The pump is oriented such that it's drive pulley sets right where the main deck drive pulley would be with the deck on the tractor. Probably would be a rare find though. I don't think the hydraulic tiller was a popular option given the cost. I've only seen a few and all those were online.

I cant find a rear tiller for my bolens either, it really stinks cause thats a main item I want. I have plenty of metal, a welder and tools to customize the frame and make mounts so thats not a problem. I was thinking about mounting pump right under pto where the pulleys are. If not, I have extra engines I could run to power hydro. I just dont want it to lift really slow like some loaders I have seen. I am planning on lining the frame with some thick metal I have to add weight. I also plan on bigger wheels and ag tires though I havent researched that yet.
