Branson 2810
I'm new to the forum and I just bought a used Branson 2810 with a BL10S loader. The tractor has 350 hours on it and so far it looks like everything is functioning properly. I'd like to try and remove the loader because I'll be doing some rotary tilling in some tight spots. The loader operators manual does a pretty good job of describing how to attach the loader but the instructions for detaching the loader are a little sketchy to me.

So 2 questions if I may:

1. Can someone describe the steps to detach the loader?

2. The operators manual states: "When the loader hydraulics are disconnected from the tractor the tractor hydraulic circuit must be completed. Failure to do so will result in tractor hydraulic pump damage." What do you do to complete the hydraulic circuit after removing the hydraulics??? I don't have a clue.

Thanks in advance.

blueriver,

Thanks for the great link. This clears up my question completely. Plus I learned a little more about how the system works by reading that thread. Boy I'm glad I joined this site! :)

Welcome. I too am a fairly new member and I've got to say, folks on here are great in helping newbies like myself with all sorts of questions. I'm sure you'll find the same.

I bought an '08 3510 with a BL10S FEL a few months ago and I'm lovin' it. You'll probably feel the same way about your 2810 also. Have fun! :tractor:

So the bottom line is if the loader control valve stays on the tractor, you are good to go, and nothing further has to be done except disconnect the lines at the valve. If the valve comes off you have to connect the pressure line to the return, or to the hose that continues down the line.

When my neighbor removes his FEL he has to connect his pressure line to the line that continues the circuit. This is accomplished with QD connectors UNDER the tractor. This is on a Massey tractor.

Canuck,

Have you ever detached your FEL from the tractor. If you have, how about giving me a description of what you do to detach it. The operators manual (which I believe was translated from Korean) is difficult to follow. Thanks.

Coolbowfin - it's about a 5 minute or less job. Leave the hoses connected and then:
1. With the bucket on the ground, drop the folding support legs on the loader arms and put the pins back in.
2. Remove the large pins that attach the arms to the tractor.
3. Start the tractor and move the controller up slightly like you were going to lower the arms.
4. Move the controller to the left slightly like you were going to tip the bucket up.
(This should have raised the arms of the loader free from the docking brackets.)
5.Back up a few inches to make sure the loader is free of the tractor (except for the hoses).
6. Shut the tractor off and unhook the hoses at the quick couplers (slide the outer ring back to release the hose).
7. Go play around without the loader. :D
Hope that helps; it works for me.

Thanks Canuck. I'm going to try to remove it this afternoon. Really appreciate your explanation.

Well howdy. I've got the 2810 as well and love mine. It's a great little hard-working tractor. To date, it's all been shreading and moving hay with the FEL but I'm buying a box blade in the fall to try to do some "gravel road" maintenance. I'll let you know how that goes.

i put a loader on my 2910 not long ago. after running it for about 3 years with no loader, i was surprised at what a difference the loader made in handling. i found my self using the 4wd a lot more, especially when mowing.

rather than dropping the whole loader, i also found it was a lot easier to just remove the bucket. not having that 300-400 lb mass hanging 4' out in front of the tractor makes a lot of difference...so much so that operating the tractor without the bucket is pretty darn close to operating with no loader at all.
