Hello, I'm new to this forum!. My father bought a 2009 Kubota BX2360 about 6 months ago and I am getting it ready for spring. The front axle seals are leaking so I'm going to replace those and change the usual fluids and such. I noticed a green wire was disconnected on the side of the mower and there's only one terminal near by but I was curious what the wire did and could it being unplugged have hurt anything. Then there is also a wire that got melted up by the muffler. I'm not sure if it had came undone and touched the hot muffler or if the muffler got so hot it melted the wire while still connected. Curious if anyone else has had this. The exhaust is really rusty so I think Im going to media blast it and try to find some high temp paint. The wet around the wire and bolts is Kroil oil :D
I am new to tractors but I'm a machinist and pretty mechanically inclined. I've worked on diesel trucks and crappy box store mowers, and it looks like Kubota thought about the design before they made these tractors. So far it seems very easy to work on.

Anyways, I'm just looking to make her pretty again and last for years to come.

Thanks, Derek

It is a good machine. Best wishes on the restore.

It popped out at me that the front tires do not match. This isn't what ol' Martha would call "a good thing". I believe I see one R4 and the other an R1. You can order sets of pre-mounted tires and wheels from Kubota, not at parts, but from a salesman, through a program called Whole Goods. I've ordered two complete sets this way and they're far less expensive than just buying tires somewhere. I believe I'd want those front tires to match for the sake of the front drive unit.

Yeah, I noticed that when I bought it. I wasn't too worried about it because I do believe the front diff is open on these, but ill be sure to measure the outside diameter of the tires, If they are different I'll probably change them.

With open diffs no need to change them if you don't have the loose change in your pocket. Looks like oil pressure sender by location.

Okay thanks for the replies. Just got the front gear case opened up and am going to purchase a parts washer to wash all the stuff before rebuilding then with the new seals. Does anyone know if you can just buy the boots for the steering or do you have to buy the whole piece? They still have little play even though they are ripped open.

Derek,

Picture #3 is of the oil pressure sending unit, #4 & #5 are of the engine temperature sending unit. Same as on my BX2350. I hope you will enjoy your BX as much as I have mine.

Normally before we go at taking the front end apart we switch to gear oil in the front axle. Often we might find as little as a piece or two of grass causing a seep from the axle which for what we have seen sometimes goes else where.

For your exhaust: I have had great luck in using black graphite no-stick paint on Kubota exhaust pipes and mufflers. It looks right, and seems unaffected by heat or weather. Got it at a TSC store, if I recall. Art brings up the point about gear oil vs. hydraulic oil. Sometimes, posters have written about front axle leaks being "cured" by switching to gear oil.
In addition to the above video on boot replacement, there was a thread on that topic here recently, with photos and part numbers, I think.

What did the BX2360 cost and what options did it have?
