Just bought a used BX2200

Just today I bought a used 2002 BX2200 (Will be delivered Monday). 508 hours, Kubota snow thrower (good shape, with electric chute rotator), 4way valve, 54" MMM (excellent condition), turf tires, soft sided cab, wheel weights, work lights. Overall the tractor is about a 8 out of 10.
Paid $8700 including tax and free delivery. Seems like a decent deal to me.
Any thoughts?
Any advice, warnings, recommendations?

It should complement my NH 1715 with loader and backhoe nicely. I can sell my vintage Cub Cadets now (1450 and 123).

Sounds like a pretty sweet deal to me. I've priced Kubota snowblowers, and know that they are pretty expensive, and a 54"mmm isn't cheap either. Enjoy your new toy.

Congratulations. Sounds like a great deal. I have a BX2200.

Mine is a 2000 model. There was a recall and free replacement on the fuel tank which leaked a bit below the top when 70% or more full. It may have been taken care of by the time yours came out. Some had problems with vibration fatigue breaking one of the filter brackets. Mine never had that and I don't remember which filter it was, air, I think, not positive.

There is a cruise control kit available for $75 that can be retrofitted for this model. The lever comes up through the one empty slot to the side of the seat. I am currently having a Woods BX6000 backhoe put on mine. This requires mods to the hydraulics and seat, as well as installation of a subframe that slightly impairs full 3ph lift if arms are at max spread.

I've found a few posts mentioning the fuel tank and filter bracket issues. I'll keep my eyes open for problems.

Anyone know if Ag tires will fit the same wheels as the turf tires? Not sure yet, but I've got some pretty steep hills, might need the Ag tires.

Congratulations on your purchase, and welcome to the clan. I had a BX22, and it was a real workhorse! My air filter bracket did break, but I never had any issues with the fuel tank besides a blown fuse that shut the fuel gage down. I've been sorry that I sold it a few times.

I think the fuel tank issue was limited only to the very first two BX models, the BX 1800 and BX2200. As far as I know it was resolved before the BX22 came out.

I used to have a BX2230 with bar tires on it. they worked real well on hills and such. You should be able to get some to fit your new 2200.

I have one set of ags (not R4s) and one set of turfs. Rims are the same. The turfs have been sitting under the house for 7 years. The ags do no damage at all when cutting lawn, but turfs spin when trying to go ground engagement work. The ags stay on all the time.

Thanks for the Ag tire advice. From my experience with other smaller tractors I've found turf tires to be traction challenged also.

By the way. Thanks to all on this site. Both my machines, the NH 1715 and the Kubota were bought after checking this forum for info, which was very valuable in choosing them.

The bar and turf tires are the same size and mounted to the same rims.
I run turfs but change to bars on the front for winter.

In addition to what has already been mentioned, watch out for leaks in the hydraulic hoses- both those supplying the loader/snowblower and also the four that run the steering. If you develop any leaks in the steering hoses, replace all 4 at once.

Would you mention the dealer you purchased from? Sounds like a good outfit.

I bought it a Emerichs in the Albany/Saratoga NY region. They delivered it today. All seems good. I've bought used machines from them before, they have kind of a no-nonsense, cash price they will give you in most cases. Doesn't appear they are looking to make a killing on their used stuff. Just want to move it to make room for new machines.

Did a little snow throwing with it today. Went through 18" of hard packed, frozen snow no problem. The Curtis cab needs some work, some rust here and there, and a broken weld in one door frame ( I have a welding shop). Cab looks like it might be older than the tractor is.

So far so good......moved the old faithful 1976 Cub 1450 outside...hated to do it. That thing treated me good. I bought it used for $500, found a Cub front thrower for $300 and have nursed it along for about eight years with no major failures. Hard to believe the abuse that old machine would take.

Anybody ever seen a parts/price list for Curtis Cab parts for a BX2200. Didn't see one on their web site, and it's considerably different than newer models.

Use the search function with "BX Curtis Cab" as the search term. Limit the search to the Kubota forums. You'll find threads on that.

Ditto on the hydro hoses, but that's just a function of age, not defect. My hoses to the steering went after 7 years. The quick connect hydro couplings also got flat spots on bearings and stopped seating tightly. The dealer replaced them with an aftermarket brand that is larger and better than the originals.
