Just bought a JD 318 at an auction and mowed and towed with it the same day. Needs a little cleaning, fluids and belt change but appears to be solid. Looking forward to leaning on everyone here to keep her humming along.

If you google "John Deere 318 maintenance list" you will find a nice 89 point list which may be a good place to start with a new/old 318. John Deere has a maintenance sheet in pdf form that lists all the part numbers and fluids. Those 318s are great tractors.

Those are a great little tractor!! I had one for a number of years , and it was trouble free although eventually requiring a fuel pump at about 1000 hours. I had started a restoration on it. well more of a pimping My ride, new ags all the way around and put a rear dual wheel kit on it, for a couple of reasons, the stability and the traction becomes tremendous but mostly because no ROPS and my daughter who is now 12 "claimed" it. A girl and her tractor.....
Unfortunately it left home last year being replaced with a BX25, But I did happen to find a couple of weeks ago a little B1200, so it is going to get a bit of a resto, and she can learn about clutches.......... it is nice that in low range low gears it is basically creeper one gear at a time but in a short while she should be jamming gears with the best of them, plus it will free up the RTV 900 for Dad.
