junk deere or john deere

Sometimes the tractor starts right up. somtimes it dosen't start at all. have been dealing with this for 2 years since I purchased it new.

have changed fuel filter, air filter, spark plug.

I will start briefly then die. sometimes when choked it will run for maybe 30 seconds, but when i move the throttle to normal it dies.

When I have take it to a tractor mechanic, they cannot find anything wrong with it and say it starts right up.

. very, very frustrating./

Try dumping all the gas change filter again and fill with non-ethanol gas.If none is available treat you gas with Startron or Marine Stabil.Today's gas is only good for 30 days then separates.

What model of tractor? Are you following the starting procedure in the manual? If it was new why are you working on it? If it is a carburetor model, 30 second warm up may not be enough. Were you there to watch the mechanic start it and see if he could replicate the problems you are having?

I understand you are frustrated, but it seems to be either the dealer or you are the problem not John Deere.

half throttle, fully choked, no matter what the temperature and it should start right up. when the motor starts to stumble push the choke in until clears. should accept full throttle after 20 to 30 seconds of warm up.

Sounds familiar. Took a hint from a tractor forum (as opposed to a social networking tractor subset knitting circle gossip and petting farternity) and replaced the fuel pump. Today I started it after over 3 months of sitting outside just to move it. Fired up on the 3rd or 4th rev. The only clue to check was that the fuel filter was always nearly empty and WAS empty after standing still for a few days.

The only clue to check was that the fuel filter was always nearly empty and WAS empty after standing still for a few days.

My L130 mower was hard to start and I installed a small electric fuel pump in place of the existing diaphragm pump. Starts right up every time for the last eight years or so.
