I have a John Deere X350 mower with a 42" deck. The ride seems really rough. Is there anything I can do to soften the ride. I've looked at suspension seats but can't find anything to fit the X350.

Not sure what your rear tire pressures is. If high, I would try running them at 8 - 10 psi.

Have you tried moving the seat springs? They have three different positions. According to the manual the front most position is supposed to give the softest ride.

The manual states 10 PSI for the rear tires and 14 PSI for the front. That is pretty standard for X300/X500 tractors. I find those pressures to give a very rough ride even with the seat springs in the forward position. I have found it more pleasant with 12 PSI front and 8 PSI rear.

Just be aware that if you are very fussy about your cut height you may have to readjust your deck after lowering the tire pressure.

You are aware that the X350 and other lawn tractors below the X380 use the short lived light duty K46 transaxle ? Maybe time to reuse up .

I had to same issue as the OP. Mowing was something that I hated doing as it would beat me to death. My solution was to fix the yard. Now I love mowing. ;)

Very good solution... and a mower with larger diameter tires improves the ride a whole bunch.

Buy a truckload of sand and spread it evenly on your yard to fill in the low spots.

buickanddeere, my k46 is 14 years old, mowing my 1 acre. Yes, it's starting to growl when cold, but I haven't done a thing to it. IIRC, I have about 480 hours?

This is TOTALLY false. If used as intended a K46 tranny will outlast the rest of the tractor. Tuff Torq makes over 45 variants of the K46. Hundreds of thousands of the k46 trannies are sold every year. On typical relatively flat suburban lot less than 1 acre property owners will put 20 to 50 hours on a year a K46 will last 20 years or more. You try to use a k46 as a garden tractor, or climb steep hills on regular basis then yes, unit will fail within a couple hundred hours

Well then purchase a X380 or higher so you don’t have to continually worry about an pampering an underrated transaxle .
