Okay, so this tractor has been great for the last 4 years. I change the oil, lube it, change filters and spark plugs as recommended. And it is never in any weather, always stored dry and mostly clean.
The last time I used it this past fall it started rough and then while working in the yard I shut it off to avoid a unnecessary long idle. When I did the starter seemed to just start spinning (or it was spinning the entire time I was the thing was running) it wasn't engaged with the fly wheel but you could hear it spinning. I tapped on the starter thinking it would stop but it just spun until the battery died.
I towed it back up to the barn and charged the battery up but it won't do anything. The lights won't turn on it won't turn over nothing. I'm thinking of starting with the ignition switch. Does that sound like a logical place to start? Also, is there a place online that would be cheaper than the dealership. As I'm sure most of you know John Deere is pretty proud of their tractors and charge a bunch for their parts.
Thanks in advance for your help
