I'm in the market for a used tractor. I've been looking at several models. I don't know much about them and tried looking on you-yube for some videos of them at work. But, mostly only found ones advertising them for Sale. I had a 4300 and sold it when I sold the farm as I didin't think I would ever need it again. It would be the minimum size I would want. I looked at new tractors and they are lighter and can't lift as much. The models I've been looking at now are the 4105, 4300 series, 4400 series, 5210. The tractor will have a loader and be either MFWD or 4wd as well. I need a tractor that weighs around 3K lbs minimum. Out of these tractors are there any to stay away from? Or, are there any that stand out as being a really good tractor/model? I had a 4300 and it was a good solidly built reliable tractor. Most of the others are Hydrostat Transmissions. Any thought on Hydrostats? To me it was nice feature. But I've only had one tractor that had it out of five that I've had. I appriciate any thoughs or comments.

Thank you,

James

Yeah, looks like one to avoid. It's to new and not one of the ones I"m currantly looking at. Most of the ones I'm looking at are 2008 or older.
Thanks for the heads up though.

I would look at the 40 to 60 hp tractors of all brands to get an idea of what is available. I have a Deere 4520 cab and really like it. The hydrostatic and power reverser transmissions are all good imo and the hydro is a good choice for fel and close quarters work.

I suggest looking on Used Farm & Agricultural Equipment - John Deere MachineFinder and Used Tractors For Sale at TractorHouse.com: John Deere Tractors, used farm tractors and farm equipment, tractors for sale, Case IH, New Holland, Agco, Kubota to get an idea of what's available on the used market. Both sites allow entering your zip code and sort by distance from that zip code.

I have a 13 year old 4400 Sync-reverser that has been a great tractor. I hope to keep it for many more years. Powerwise, it's equivalent to the current 3520, Your 4300 is equivalent to the 3320...so there are two models to consider on the used market. There is also quite a few 4300 and 4310 machines available. Since you've owned a 4300, you know what to look for in a tractor.
Although I am definitely a Deere fan, you should look at other brands as well.
