WATERLOO, Iowa (AP) The John Deere Tractor & Engine Museum opened Tuesday in Waterloo, offering a glimpse at how the company has become ingrained in the community.

The partnership between city of Waterloo, home of John Deere痴 largest manufacturing complex, and the company is a theme of the museum. It features stories about key individuals who guided John Deere during its early years while also displaying company products and memorabilia, such as vintage tractors, blueprints of the complex and manuals.

It looks wonderful, I am planning a trip there sometime this spring. If anyone else goes please share your pictures with us in this thread. I was surprised how cheap it is to get in.

Grew up in Waterloo in 40's and 50's, and for certain will be going back to see the museum.
As a 12 yr old, would pick up a tractor from the experimental engineering shop and drive it through Waterloo to our home on the south side of town when we needed some extra horsepower.
Anytime a school paper was assigned, I'd use it as an excuse to get a tour of the Waterloo plant and write a paper on what I learned either in the foundry, or the assembly line, or the parts mfg. end of the factory.
