John Deere Steering Wheel mechanism

Hi! Im new here and im hoping someone can help me explain how John Deere Model B steering wheel to front wheels mechanism works? Any pdf or sites that can explain? Thanks!

Steering wheel rod goes into that gear box on the front pedestal.

A worm gear on the end of that rod rotates the vertical rod to the wheels.
