48 INCH DECK WIRES WERE PULLED OUT CLUTCH WHEN PTO WAS APPLIED . I UNPLUGGED WIRES FROM CLUTCH AND ENGINE STILL WONT CRANK.DO WIRES HAVE TO BE PLUGGED INTO CLUTCH FOR THE ENGINE TO CRANK. I TRYED WITH HARNESS PLUGGED IN AND UNPLUGGED.

The bearings probably seized in the PTO which made the unit spin ripping out the wires and bending the small arm holding it in place.
There is a outfit selling aftermarket units on e-bay that come with a replacement wire pigtail. JD units the wires are separate.
