john deere garden tractor group

There used to be a john deere garden tractor group over at yahoo that I liked for john deere specific info. It was moderated by Stan. I heard that yahoo has deleted it. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif Does anyone know what the real story is there?

Also can anyone explain to me why some forums will not let you mention any other forums? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

It is back, under the same name, but add 'II' at the end. And Stan is running it.
I was sad when I couldn't get into it (tried to route one of the members there for more help with a JD lawn tractor question), but found another group that mentioned it was back up. Everything is vulnerable to just 'being gone' someday scary as that seems.
I can see there would be conflict of opinion if one group mentioned another, and members flocked over to find a better 'home'.
I went to a site and was asked about my favorite forums, and mentioned this one. Didn't get any flack, but then also realized there were other 'lesser' run forums that shouldn't be mentioned.
I left one and came to this one because that 'chief' moderator was just a mini-dictator. Most moderators want to keep a good group of members together, and that takes a lot of work on their part to do that. A good moderator doesn't have to worry about another site, but should 'worry' about keeping the sponsors happy too.
This Stan guy is very knowledgable, and has a low tolerance for rediculous questions like "What's it worth" and 'hidden' sales pitch's for products and things.

This is a very well run forum, and it shows in the many members that are here, IMO.

I heard that they lost their message archive which is a real shame. There was a lot of useful information there. I believe the new group is not a public group any more. It seemed to me that when Yahoo had my E-mail address I got more spam so I am reluctant to sign up for the new group. I was with the Yanmar guys when they came over here. I wish Stan would bring his group over here. I suspect that commercial interests(greed) drive moderators to try and coral users and their E-mail addresses. If I get to where I need viagra I guess I will go to the drug store and not some spamming e-merchant.

I'm not getting spam from the Yahoo groups I belong to, so I am confused over what you are implying. Doesn't fit with my experience, however. Sorry to hear you are or were having problems.
