John Deere F510

Just picked up one of these guys. When it warms up, in around 5 min the hydro stops working. Any ideas on what to do or check for? The engine/hydro is all one unit. Mike

My neighbor has one of these. The dealer told her that eventually the hydro pump fails on these and it's a really expensive fix. She's had hers for about 20 years and they replaced one pump under warranty when it was pretty new.

JD Parts shows a filter screen in the transmission control valve. John Deere - Parts Catalog

I had the same problem with my "new to me" 4400. Turned out to be a clogged sump screen. Filter and fluid change brought mine back to life.

I've got an f510. Have had it at least 20 years and have never had a problem with the pump. The problem I have had is now. It keeps throwing the drive belt.
