John Deere AR56160 pump rebuild

Anybody on here ever rebuild one of these pumps? This pump is coming off a 1966 JD300 backhoe. The pump was working fine when it started leaking from around the pump shaft. I disassemble the pump to find that the O-ring behind the shaft seal, was all torn up which is what was probably causing the leak. I noticed the shaft has a small groove in it where the seal and o-ring are.... Im not sure if that groove is supposed to be there or if its form wear and tear? I just dont want to order a new shaft if i dont have too. Also one of the big washers on the pump shaft was a little rough on the edges. The pump seems pretty simple to work on. I was just curious if anybody had advice or experience with these pumps. Thanks Chris

Geez, i guess know body on here has any experience with these pumps. Anyways, i ordered the seal kit from JD. The kit didn't not include all the seals needed and it also did not include the outer dust seal.

I disassemble the pump and cleaned everything. I had no manual to go by other than looking at the parts diagrams and searching for info on the internet. It was pretty easy to service and clean the pump. The hardest part was putting the stroke valve back on.... i had to put oil on all the o-rings and packing so they would stay in place while i reattached it.

After i reinstalled everything, she works just as good as it did before.
