Anyone recharged their a.c. on here? My air conditioning is getting a little weak, still cool but not COLD. Does anybody know when they started putting R134 in tractors? I think it was 1994 for cars.

You can look on the ac lines and see if has been converted over. The 134A lines have what looks like quick attach couplers. If it has 134A and you just need a little freon, you can go to walmart to buy a can to add.

TSC also sells the R134a, and they have a product I had very good results with on an AC that had a slow discharge problem. It is a tall can of 134 with a stop leak and lube (can't remember the brand), and it has its own built in disposable hose/adapter deal. One can of that solved all my AC troubles and got it cranking again. I think it was $16 last year.

You should never use any type of stop leak in an ac system. I've been licensed and working on every type of AC known to man for 25 years and have had nothing but trouble from that stuff.

For figuring out what type of refrigerant is in it you do just look at the connections most of the time. You need a set of gauges or at very minimum use the sight glass on the receiver dryer if it has one. If so just charge it a little at a time till there are no more bubbles.

Just keep in mind, with 134 more than any other type, over charging or the least little bit of air in the system is real bad. You really need some gauges.

Thanks for your responses. I am assuming I have an R19 system, but I'm gonna attach a picture of it. Is it possible to recharge R19 systems?

That's a picture of your fuel injector pump.

And R-19 is not a refrigerant.

Hi

I am trying to do the same thing. I see that I can buy old stock R12 on ebay. That's the right refrig for old JD, right? Does anyone know where I can get a hose to attach the can and a/c unit?

I have the guage/hose for 134 systems, but obviously that doesn't work on this.

Thx
Steve

Ebay has quite of bit of the R12 and hose kits and adapters also. It should be able to be converted to R134, but I imagine it would not be cheap.

Thanks CHH. I had quite the dumb day yesterday, posting incorrect pics, messing up numbers, and using no in place of know. Must be the lack of AC while baling hay in the 90s.
