I have a 1995 John Deere 770 2WD. I have common radial style tractor tires on the rear and Tri-Ribbed tires on the front. I have a bad tire on the front. The front tire size is a 6.50 X 10. Through much research and grief I have found out that a 10" rim is a very odd size for any tractor. Therefore finding a tractor tire to fit the rim is very difficult. I have now decided to try and find a different size rim and tire that will fit the tractor. I really do not want a turf tire if I can help it. I have a loader on the tractor so I would like to find a tire and wheel with some width to it. My idea is to find out if a new 790 front rim and tire will fit on my 770. I found that the 790 size 5 X 15 will work. It is a Tri-rib tire but it is very narrow and tall. I would rather get away from the tri-rib and go with more of an all terrian stlyle tire with some width to it.
John Deere specs the 5 X 15 as well as a 7 X 14 for a 790. I would like to find out if the 7 X 14 will fit my tractor and what the tread looks like. I will continue to work at my problem, but I was wondering if you guys have any advice. The spec that I found on the new 7X14 also stated BAR after the #. What does BAR mean? Is that an all terrain tire? If it is and if it will fit my tractor, I think that is the one I would like........Thanks
