Hey does any one know has much it cost to get the hydrolic seal right under the seat replaced. Has anyone ever replaced one themselfs if so how hard is it to do

Not sure what "seal" you are talking about under the seat. There is a gasket (item #21 in pic) or packing (item #7, 8, or 9).

Either/or? or neither?

Aubrey,

If you plan on doing repairs on the 750, I highly recommend the JD manual for this tractor. I just sold my 750 after 18 years of ownership and the shop manual was very detailed and well worth the purchase price. It covers everything with many photographs (not sketches) and some of the wiring and hydraulic schematics are color coded.

JD痴 web site has parts drawing available (similar to the one in the earlier post) and prices can be looked up on line.

Are you certain the gasket is bad? Many times hydrualic fluid will leak from above and wick around a gasketed joint making it look like it is leaking.... Just something to be aware of.

Have fun with the tractor.

I think you will need to have a hoist available to lift the casting off the gasket.
But also recommend getting the tech manual for that tractor and am sure you can do the job.

I am thinking of picking up a jd 750 used. I only have 5 acres and don't have any huge landscape plans but love to play around in the yard. From one end to the other the grade drops about 150'. I am a bit concerned that the hp will dissappoint vs a larger machine. I have a lawn tractor that has almost as much hp and I can't climb the slope when the ground is wet. Have you been satisfied with this machine are always wish you went for more power?
Thanks,
Mike

I have owned two JD 750 tractors. The first one was a '81 2 whl drive, and after having for 5 years I wound up trading that one for a '84 4x4 model. The latter was/is a very capable tractor for its size, weight, and power. Having 4x4 and ag tires is about like getting an extra 5hp. From what I experienced, a used 750 holds its value very well, especially if it's a good looking tractor and has been well maintained. So, if you were to buy one and later on decide it wasn't big enough, you could probably resell it for little (if any) loss. I actually broke about even with the two that I had. I think for the jobs you have in mind, the 750 would be a very good choice to start out with. Sure, the 750 has its limitations but then so does a bigger tractor! Just like with any compact tractor, it comes down to knowing those limitations and working within them. Good luck on whatever you get!
